Torts last season will be next year. They will move off of someone. Unless you believe in conspiracy theories that the Flyers are trying to make Coots demand a trade by jerking him around which I dont think is true. If that was the cas eI would think Couturier would be scratched for the home openener as it was his 800th game. Instead Torts started him and the 4th line.
It is most likely is guys arent playing to his standards so as punishment they play lower in the lineup. Frost who was often in Torts doghouse last season has been used as top line C up till now so I dont believe the narrative that Torts hates certain players. He holds better players to higher standards.
There havent been many players who have impressed so far. The only player you can say is playing great is Ersson - xShoot4WarAmpsx
Tortorella has made a career out of favoring players and certain kinds of players. Often for petty reasons and at times and situations that have happened far too often to be a coincidence. If you don't recognize this, you just aren't paying attention.

Same pattern wherever he goes... over time his teams get grindier and grindier, and less talented overall. - Tomahawk
Most coaches want a team of talented and skilled players with enough of a sprinkle of role players and grinders to round it out. Tortorella wants a team full of grinders with just a sprinkle of offensive talent. |

I agree on your assessment of Ersson. He has played well IMO even though we really don't have any results to show for it.

Andrae is the reason that the Flyers didn't draft Buium. What an embarrassing statement that was by DB. Sometimes it's best not to say anything. - Phillywhiteout

Jamie Drysdale has been outscored 27-5 at 5on5 so far as a Flyer. Hopefully now his skating looks better, the GA will come down and the GF will go up.

Is it 5 v 5 or 5 v 1? Selfish of him to take an entire team on by himself

If they passed on Buium because of who his agent is, which I don't think is the reason. That is complete incompetence and a fireable offense in my opinion. - MJL
You would be a fool to think his agent wasn’t part of the decision not to take him. How much a part is the question. |

could be, i chalked that up to GM speak. I was thinking its because he is a college player and i think the same agent as cutter, he just wanted to stay away from that. But he could be thinking size also. But already enough small dman, could mean drysdale and york and not necessarly andrae.....this whole team is a trainwreck, At least we maxed out the cap and have a basement team....thats hard to do - bradster
That right there is some next level failure |

Do you know how that number compares to other Flyers over the same time span?

tk currently is a better offensive player than foerster for MM to play with. - Peter Richards
But Foerster is a better finisher. Frost is a pure playmaker, and Michkov can playmake and finish. They need a pure finisher and that is what Foerster can be. TK is a roamer as is Tippet, they generate on their own. I think it makes more sense to put those two with Couts and let them create. Foerster needs to just find some space and have a playmaker get the puck to him, similar to what Bergeron did was Pastrnak or Backstrom for Ovechkin. |

Look, there has to be a lot of bad blood between the Flyers and that agent, plus some hesitation of taking a college player who might decide he doesn't want to play for them. If its true that the Flyers had graded Buium and Luchanko close, this could have been the deciding factor. The Flyers might have selected Buium if they didn't have another player on their board graded close to him. Just a thought. |

The Flyers like any other team need to remain professional. An agent's job is to meet the needs of their client. If they passed on Buium because of who his agent is, then whomever made that decision, needs to be fired.

They're watching Jamie (frank) up defensively while doing nothing offensively. |

Like I’ve said, my pairs would be…
York-Sanheim
Seeler-Ristolainen
Zamula-Drysdale
The third pair would be very lucky to see any defensive starts if I were in Torts’ shoes. |
