Jones is movable to a desperate team and they're desperate. Only 4 years left and they're trying to gain traction and be a playoff team now.

He would probably be fine with Sergachev for the next few years. The Hawks could take back Ian Cole and it probably works money wise and they'll just have to figure it out for next year which never seems to be an issue.

Sergachev, Jones, Durzi and Marino (assuming his back holds up) would be a pretty solid top 4 for the next few years and makes a very clear path for big Arty to move into that top spot on the right without any awkwardness.

Dave Pagnatta writes this about the quest for a center. So a young D for a young C sometime in the future?

On Wednesday’s edition of “The Latest” on TFP, David Pagnotta reported the Blackhawks are keeping tabs on the centre market and would like to add a young forward for the second-line, though a move may not necessarily be a priority for the rebuilding Blackhawks until the off-season.

“This is another team that would love to add somebody that fits the long-term core of this group. So, keep an eye on Chicago as the season moves along,” Pagnotta said. “Again, probably something more impactful happens in the off-season, but that doesn’t mean Kyle Davidson, like Craig Conroy in Calgary, isn’t going to do with due diligence.

“They don’t have an internal solution yet. Even though they’ve got some young kids in the system, they might end up being on the wing. So, they’re going to keep looking to see if they can add a piece, but add Chicago to the mix of teams that would love to add a 2C in that early-to-mid-20s range at some point over the next several months.”

Nazar has had a nice start in the AHL. If he continues at over a PPG I'd think you give him another look see maybe that Nov 6th game against the Wings?

The Islanders are poopty and the Hawks have the assets to get someone like Barzal and make a stupid offer. They'd just have to get over the fact that it would take moving an asset like Korch or Nazar to get it done. Pulling the trigger on something like that is really the next step in the whole does Kyle know wtf he's doing evaluation.

I thin the general problem with most of that is 2C's are generally not available and everyone wants to add one all of the time.

Marner may end up being around at some point but they'd have to move some monies around to make that work and people here will winge about how he's too soft even though it would be fun to watch.

It ends in 2030 so 4 after this year. Should have this year plus another 2 in the tank and then I'd expect to see some kinda drop off but if they don't want to be complete poop their inaugural year and sniff the playoffs they have to add something there.

Murphy to Utah for Chicken fat. Both have 2 years left on their contracts. Cap hits are basically a wash - Hawks take on about a 1.5M extra.

Utah needs D due to Marino and Durzi injuries. Murph's All-American boy image will play well in Utah and he would probably love it there.

Schmaltz can play 2C for a couple of years while the prospects develop.

I am not advocating any trades that might shake the present situation into a non-lottery top ten one.
Hawks are said to be looking for a centre.
Utah needs a replacement defender as they lost two defensemen to injuries.

Utah might be a place to make a deal, but I am interested in a launching TJ Brodie, who doesn’t have a no-trade clause over Murphy.
Since his early days in Calgary, he was a big mention by telecaster Dale Tallon, who loved ability to play offensive and be defensive. Brodie just never ascended to an elite player at either side. Frankly, I was surprised by the signing and the Hawks may be satisfied with the system’s immediate promise on the backline and see his 2 yr deal as tradable.

Utah doesn’t want to let their momentum to die after the good start run the new market…so I would ask for Jack McBain who plays centre and wing.

Schmaltz makes too much money, $5,850,000.

If they say, no to a McBain deal, stand pat.

I spit balled that Murphy-Schmaltz trade before I read an article saying Hawks are looking for a younger center (along with everyone else it seems) so a player like McBain would work. He's got some size too. 6-3 200 lbs.

I’d do Brodie for McBain in a NY minute, but I don’t think he would be the answer at 2C.

Un tradeable due to multi years left on their contract at bloated salaries:

Murphy
Brodie
Mrazek
Foligno
Richardinson
Mikhaev
Jones

Tradable if stays healthy

Martinez (probably need to retain to get any kind of return)
Hall (would definitely need to retain to get any kind of return)

Tradeable:

Kurashev (RFA with arb rights at end of season)

Tradeable, no return

AA
Smith
Maroon
Donato
Anderson

- LAHawk

Nobody is really untradable though, we've seen this label applied to players and they sometimes do get moved anyway. The Hawks aren't a top team, but it doesn't mean all our players have no value, teams out there have needs and holes to fill too. Injuries happen and even if the Hawks have to retain a little bit of salary it's not a huge deal in the short term of the next couple seasons.

Pope had a piece yesterday on Bedard about his goals scored dry spell. https://chicago.suntimes....oncern-nhl-fantasy-hockey

It’s true: Blackhawks star Connor Bedard has scored only two goals in his last 21 games, dating to last season.

In his first seven games this season, Bedard has scored one goal on 25 shots — a 4.0% shooting percentage that won’t last.

Another sign of maturing is his defensive improvement, which has been significant. Last season, the Hawks had only a 43.2% share of the expected goals during his five-on-five shifts; this season, they have a 58.3% share.

Untradeable more because of cap hit and term than the player's abilities.

Looking back right now with the Kirby Dach trade, which was for 13th (Nazar) and 66th (Hayes).

Dach missed all last season practically and so far this year has been struggling big time.

GP-7 G-0 A-2 P-2 Minus -10, FO-40%

Not wishing anything bad for Dach and this trade could still backfire but seems like a net positive so far.

Because Tinordi checked him into the Hawks bench.

I don't wish him bad at all. In fact, I was hoping that he would flourish. It just seems like he can never really get right either physically or on the ice.

Hey wait a minute, the Hawks are looking for a 2C....

Is Anderson still sick?

Looks like Reichel is getting some consistent linemates (at least to start the game).

Hoping Martinez gets back soon to help even out the D pairs.

The Nashville Predators would like a center, but they aren’t easy to find
Nick Kieser: Nashville Predators GM Barry Trotz on @1025TheGame Tuesday: “I’ve been on the phones. No one is trading anyone right now. I would like to get a center, but no one is giving their centermen away.”

Alex Daugherty: (on the weekend) “Seeing a lot of “Preds need to get a 2C” but not a lot of names. The trade options for NSH are poor. You’re either getting older (ex: Nelson, Strome) or way more expensive. Btw, Zegras is great, but is not a center. Bottom line? NSH needs a 2C to emerge from current roster.”

Alex Daugherty: “This is the reality for 2024-25: one of Novak, Sissons, McCarron, Parssinen, Hinostroza, or Svechkov has to emerge as a true pivot in the top 6 or else Stamkos has to do it.”

I remember when everyone said Manning was untradeable?

Looking for a center what a fing joke.

Now KD and Co have to take their medicine. Centers don't grow on trees.

I guess you shouldn't of spent all that money on 2 players, and yes LA gonna say it, d psh t.

You can complain all you want about Brodie but at least it's 2 years unlike Stamkos and Marchessault.
