Your bias is showing.

That article doesn't say anything that the people on this blog don't see when they watch the games lol

but that's also Mark Madden -- he caters to the less informed to the sport, the mouth breathers, so it makes sense as to why you'd read that.

UhmmmI don't see you interviewing or talking with players? I don't think you watch any of the games? Any of you..

WOW We have 30 GM's on this blog who know nothing of what's going on with penguins organization? I see people saying We got 2 goals that's better than nothing? Or A tie is a tie we got a point so were great again? Or (Best comment ever) The core will retire who cares about the next few years. That's sad and pathetic. More than half of you on here don't even live in this area? Here's a clue..Try watching a different team like florida or heck even anaheim and come come on here and tell me what you think where the penguins are heading? Without lars eller this team 0 for life..That's isn't good. FSG got ripped off by mario.

I figured something else out also..Madden mentioned horrible EK and basically said he sucked and is putrid..I've been saying that since he arrrived.LMAO..Madden calls it like he sees it also..And he's spot on..I'm more of a Tim Benz fan though.

Keep watching ground hog day...This squad couldn't beat the sharks..

Where the team is at isn't definitive proof that they made the wrong decision to hang onto their core. I'm not really a fan of what Dubas has done overall and he's turned over most of the team so there are a lot of other mistakes to factor in. Graves, Jarry, letting Guentzel go, overspending on fourth liners for picks, etc.

And it's because I'm a fan and not a GM that I want to see the stars end their career. I'll hold off on starting a mediocre rebuild for nights like Malkin's 500 goals and Sid's 1600 points

For EK, he took a big swing to get him while clearing out a lot of dead cap. I'm ok admitting it hasn't worked out as well as I'd hoped. I do still think it made the team better in the short term having him and Ned over Petry, Granlund, and DeSmith.

Dubas should be getting on the phone with Utah. Both Durzi and Marino are out for them. New city, with a solid young team, they should be pushing. Id be checking in on their interest in Karlsson.

Karlsson & Accari for Marino, Crouse & some picks. Bank a little cap space, bring Brunike back up while Marino is on the LTIR. Crouse becomes the best option for 1LW on the team, I could see him as a bigger body Kunitz out there with Sid.

I don't think it makes us any better this year but adds flexibility for next year as well as at the trade deadline with a few mil in cap space to work with.

Right strategy, wrong execution. Even all of those trade you mention aside, this was a brutal offeason. We had enough cap space to put together a competitive roster and he has completely missed with just about everything.

When talking value for money, Hayes, Glass and Beau all seem to be bad moves. Grezylk, Im not saying is bad but thats a good chunk of money for a guy who is a borderline bottom pair D. Cool we got a couple draft picks, but I can't think of a worse utilized +$10M in free agent cap space... especially when we already had half a dozen other bottom 6 caliber players.

Glass is continuing to quietly be a stud.... Still a small sample, I know, but not as small as 4 games the last time I brought it up. Now at an 8 game sample size...for all the players this season, across the whole league, that have played more than 25 mins of 5 on 5 (did this to get rid of most of the players who've only played 1 or 2 games) Glass is 2nd xGF% and 6th in HDSC%. Getting less than 12 mins a game he has 3 apples.

I think maybe it's time for him to rise up through the lineup a bit. I mean, its only early...why not try different combinations? hahah

I've got no complaints about how Glass and Hayes are actually playing, they've both been great. That's even aside from all the picks they added. But them and Lizotte is about 8M added to Acciari's 2M to spend about 10M on our 10-13 forwards.

Then I look at how they tried to replace Guentzel with Beau and use Gryz as a top pair defenseman. Can't help but think some cap space couldn't have been spent better on those two holes. They have guys in WBS who probably aren't quite as good, but could handle the roles cheaper.

To respond to the second part, the roster seems to lack some flexibility particularly at LW. They clearly wanted to try him on the third line, but Eller and Pulj are also earning their spots and I don't think Glass is an option at LW. Pretty good depth option though when they have an injury at C or RW. I would try moving up Hayes though.

Honestly, I don't think I even have a problem with him at that price point. It's the overall amount spent on the bottom four forwards, combined with Graves and Jarry, that's really handcuffed this team's cap.

Lines today
Anthony Beauvillier - Lars Eller - Cody Glass
Kevin Hayes - Noel Acciari - Jesse Puljujarvi

Shows what they have to do to get Glass on the third line. Pulj is bumped down though he's been one of their more productive wings. And Acciari is moved to C even though he seems better at wing. So worth it?

I don’t have a ton of faith it would work but I’d see if JP can still be effective on his off wing and give him a shot at 3LW. That way you can move Beau down, shift Hayes to center and Acciari back to RW where he belongs. That or try giving Glass 3C and shift Eller to wing to open up 3RW for JP.

I think I give Beau a little more time on the third line. If he fails I try Hayes since it doesn't require moving a bunch of people off their best position. Maybe by then Lizotte will be an option to backfill the fourth line.

I'd rather keep Glass at C then go to Acciari there. And I'm not touching Eller right now. If Glass beats Pulj I move Hayes to 4C. But that makes me scratch Pulj and I really wish we had another option at LW or C instead of Puustinen for moving people around. That's obviously Lizotte when he's healthy.

Jarry sent back to Pittsburgh... SILKY sez, "This is just a process that we've put in place. We spoke to Tristan about it. He's bought into it, and we'll go from there."

It's a good thing they spoke to him about it - otherwise he'd be more confused

Why do you spend so much time here, then? It could only be because you love wimpy figure skating...

...wimpy....right...figure skating is extremely hard...i know a lot of hockey players who've attended figure skating classes and camps to help with the edge work and technique. A lot of NHLers have been in something figure skating related at one point in their life. There's NHL franchises with professional/ex-professional figure skaters on their payroll to help players with the edge work and techniques....but what do actual hockey players and NHL franchises know? Surely jb55 is superior in knowledge of all things hockey.

Can you skate at all?

From Taylor Haase
But a source confirmed to me on Wednesday that the Penguins have not begun even the slightest of preliminary talks with Pettersson's camp yet. There has been nothing.

That lack of communication is one-sided. A source close to Pettersson spoke to me over the summer of his desire to re-sign, and the hope was that Sidney Crosby's impending extension was causing a delay and that Dubas would turn to Pettersson after getting Crosby's deal done. But that never happened.

Goes on to say that she believes Dubas may want to sign him eventually, but he's going to keep his options open heading into the deadline so don't expect an extension before that.
