So I heard that Seeler and Torts had an incident on the bench the other night. It apparently was a heated discussion about something. I find this interesting because Seeler is obviously one of the leaders of this team. Is this another sign that the players have had it with Torts' BS?

How do you feel about your boy Montgomery not lasting the season as Bruins coach. If the Bruins continue to falter he will be fired very soon is what I am hearing around here. Wasn't too long ago you were saying he was the modern coach that the Flyers needed, and then he shoves the captain of the team on the bench. Nice!
- jd250

I have a few comments. First is that you sound like a petty jackass when you start out with "your boy" Second is your track record of accurately assessing what is going on is abysmal. Thirdly, it wasn't that long ago that you were posting that Tortorella was the hands down winner of the Jack Adams award while Montgomery was actually winning it. It's laughable that you would imply that 3-4 start would put Montgomery on the hot seat. Montgomery remains one of the top 5 coaches in the NHL in my opinion while Tortorella, not so much. What else you got?

I really don't get this narrative. What evidence is there that the team has tuned Torts out? They seem to care about winning and losing to me. They are certainly not giving up in games, evidence being down 4-0 to the Caps and came back and almost tie it. Still looks like they are competing hard and blocking shots.

No, there is no evidence the team has tuned Torts out. Just more fantasy from those that like to make up drama and get this coach fired. Guys, its not happening! Torts will coach this year and maybe next, or he will move to the front office as an advisor next year. He's not getting fired mid season. Unlike Montgomery in Boston who will be fired mid season.

What you see right now is a frustrated team that is squeezing their sticks because early on they have had no puck luck and missed a ton of opportunities, plus they have got bad goal tending in 3 of their first 7 games. This is not the 2021 Flyers. They will turn things around at some point soon.

- jd250

Stupid is as stupid does.

The Flyers, who have been a bottom feeder for how long, they're going to turn it around. However Boston, who has been a top 10 team 3 years running, over 100 points 3 years running Including a record setting regular season of 135 points and 65 wins. They're not going to turn it around, even though their record is already better than the Flyers. And the recent Jack Adams award winning coach Jim Montgomery is going to be fired mid-season.

From seelers comments this is a regular thing between Torts and his players.
- landros 2
Yeah, but in any relationship (whether it be business or personal) that gets old. It just becomes exhausting and I think we may be witnessing the beginning of the end for Torts here. He usually peaks in his second year with organizations anyway. He doesn't wanna be a lame duck coach next year, so there is probably a 50/50 chance that he's gone either during this season or at the end of the season (unless they make the egregious error of moving him upstairs).

- how did the flyers look the first half of the caps game? you maybe just maybe the caps took the foot off the gas a tad and allowed them to get back into it?

- who do you think is a better run organization, the flyers or bruins? me I am hoping for a torts ext.

In other news it looks like "Chief" really has those Laffs rollin! He is such an overrated coach and I'm so thankful that he didn't come back to Philly!

Yes, absolutely! I'm not sure who that is, but I want to see someone who will properly develop guys like Brink, Foerster, etc. As mentioned in the last post, I don't buy the mind games stuff, but I do think Torts' style isn't the right fit for a younger team.

You don’t get the narrative? What evidence do I have? Are you serious? They are not playing hard. To suggest other wise is fantasy world. Those first two games in Philly were an embarrassment. You cam make all the excuses in the world. Unless they buy into what Torts and the coaching staff are asking from players this team is no where close to getting out of this mess…overall how many wins in the last 20 games or so going back to last year does this team have ? 2 ? 3 ?. A team gripping their sticks or getting bad bounces don’t go that many games looking like poop.
Enough of the excuses…watch the (frank)ing games.

Both guys were interviewed…Seeler basically said it happens all the time on the bench and it’s because they both care.

Bob…fastest goaltender to 400 wins.

Always good to see former Flyers get accomplishments…one day one will happen for an active Flyer.

During his HHOF induction speech he will thank the Flyers “Best thing to happen to my career was when I was TRADED, thank you”

- Glak18

In 707 career games split between the Flyers, Columbus Blue Jackets, and Panthers, Bobrovsky has a 400-226-56 record, a 2.59 goals-against average (GAA), and a .915 save percentage (SV%). In 83 games as a Flyer, he had a 42-23-10 record, a .909 SV%, and a 2.73 GAA.

Go Bob! and i think the Flyers finally finished paying for Bryz's buyout recently! I think the Flyers paid Bryz over 12 years not to play for them.

Snider was a very good owner for the most part, but that was his big mistake. He basically demanded that Homer go out and get Bryzgalov. Snider's other big mistake was creating those awful Philly sports talk stations! Ugh! Two huge mistakes on his part!

Snider demanded that Holmgren fix the goalie issue. He did not demand that Holmgren get Bryzgalov. That was Holmgren's choice.

I do watch the games, and I see a team that cares and is playing hard. Just look at Drysdale and Michkov's reaction after that empty net goal the other night against the Caps. You are going to tell me with a straight face that they don't care? There have been problems to start the season, no doubt. Goal tending in 3 of the games is a good place to start. You are going to tell me that Fedotov gave his team a chance to win in his 3 starts? When a team does not have faith in their goalie, everything else suffers. You should know that. Then there is 5v5 scoring. I think this stems from lack of chemistry because 1. the team has taken way too many penalties to start the season and 2. Torts just can't help himself and wants to keep juggling the lines. These things are all correctable. But none of them tell me the team has quit on their coach. That is just fantasy and nonsense.

The real issue is Homer didn't have the guts to tell Snider that Bob was the answer and he just had to be patient.

True, but all signs were pointing to Bryz being the guy. Never the less, a huge mistake cause Bob didn't want to wait behind him. I mean, Bob's regular stats are great, but other than the past few years I'm thinking his playoff stats weren't that gaudy.

Last seasons PO stats are really the only ones that matter at the end of the day

Sergei Bobrovsky had a record of 16-8-0 in 24 games with a goals against average of 2.32 and a save percentage of . 906 in the 2024 playoffs. He won his first Stanley Cup.

I don't think they have quit on their coach, but I think frustrations are starting to boil over and if the losing continues that frustration could lead to more serious issues. Torts BETTER start out the next game with Coots, TK and Michkov as his #1 line. If not, DB or Jonesy need to slap Torts across the face!!
