3 shots on goal by the Flyers in the 1st period is just unaccaptable to me, especially after losing the game the night before. The only positives was the PP looked good wtih Couts out there taking faceoffs and providing a net front screen. And of course Michkov, who by himself is a reason to watch these games.

They are a fragile team….are they not prepared? or is the stupid ass behind the bench partly to blame with his ridiculous amount of line combo changes? And lost in all of this…I’m hoping that an 18 year old is actually a little banged up because it obviously can’t be the plan to sit him in the press box and watch a sub par team all year, while a 1rst line Center roll awaits him back in Guelph.

Fedotov, 4 goals against on 10 shots. He has got to learn to stop looking above his defenders to find the puck, but instead he needs to crouch and look to the side. On that first goal, he got burned because we was looking above and couldn't get set in time. Second goal was again 5 hole, just unacceptable. The third goal, with Fedotov's size he should never be on his belly, very poor technique. He made some nice saves in the 3rd period but overall is not giving his team a chance to win.

But Fedotov wasn't the only problem. Zamula made a horrible line change with an empty net, but what the heck was Drysdale doing putting the puck to him in the first place, the play was right in front of Drysdale, very pory decision.

And not a knock against Frost, but he had a golden chance to tie the game on a wrap around with an open net with 7 minutes to go and couldn't convert. He has got to get one there.

Fedotov has been horrible. I wouldn’t say the goals were soft…but NHL goalies need to stop the puck. He’s simply not making saves to keep his teams in the game for the most part. Yes last night he was able to get a couple of stops to keep it close, but that was after he had put them behind the eight ball again. I expected a hell of a lot more out of a soon to be 28 year old. I mean give me a (frank)in break with this, he needs to track the puck better…lol….he’s not a 20 year old, he’s a seasoned vet with 9-10 years of pro hockey. The fact that we are pointing to one or two saves in a game where he got torched yet again is a joke.
- landros 2

he just does not look like a good goalie. he looks uncomfortable and looks like he has no fire or confidence.

just waiting to see how long of a rope they give him. if it was me let him play a bit more.

This team needs a .900 save pct. in most games to have a chance. This guy still looks awful to me. He is not tracking the puck well and he looks like a statue at times. That 3.2 mil contract could be a bad one, but at least it's only 2 years (I believe). Even that great save that he was given credit for, there was plenty of net to hit up high. Not sure how many more games they can give him before trying the other guy out.

I think he gets half the back to back on the weekend….and if it’s the same…they have a decision to make.

Bundy keeps reporting Luchanko will be sent down; I hope he's right since I think that is best for this kid. I thought Torts found something last night with Couts TK and Michkov and my hope is he keeps that line together. I like Couts on the PP also, since we need someone there that can win a faceoff and provide some size in front of the goalie.

Do you think maybe by 28 he would have learned some of these things by now?

I say at least 10 games to see if he can adjust. For a 6' 7" guy, he makes himself small in the net too often. This would also give the Flyers a chance to see how Kolosov is developing in the AHL.

Coots was good last night….still snake bitten…still not looking like he did when he played so well at the start of last year…but it’s something for him to build off.

Perhaps he didn't need to in the KHL. We keep hearing about these other leagues, but its clear to me the NHL is far and away the best league in the world.

Torts in the last year of his deal isn't going anywhere. He's retiring and going to the FO after this. Until then, let the rebuild go forth and we'll just have to put up with sheety hockey this year.

Who they bring in next is up in the air, though Bill seems to think Sully will likely take his spot as HC after he leaves Pitt.

I think one more and if it’s the same….let him go to the A. Of course this also depends on the other Russian goalie and how he looks this weekend. But what we’ve seen from Fedotov in pre season and his first few starts is not a NHL level goalie. The NHL is not a developmental league.

Great another retread. Had success in Pitt but last time I looked there is no Crosby, Malkin or Letang. Hopefully they are planning as we speak.

My point is he is what we see. He’s can work on things sure. The first should be to stop the (frank)in puck.

Main flaw with the team is lack of talent. So guys like Farabee are going to struggle. He is not good enough to get a lot of points on plays he creates. So he needs players to play off of. When those players are not good offensive players he will struggle to put up points. Not making an excuse just really calling a spade a spade.

I thought Coots, TK, Frost, Michkov had good games for the forwards. Everyone else was meh or worse.

It is well past the point with frost on looking good, it’s time to actually produce. Been the story his entire career

Yes its frustrating. Well, the bright side for me is the Flyers are on track for a top 5 pick, so I guess I can root for this. Oh, and continue to root for Michkov.

100% agree! I know Bill is a Frost fan and wants to accentuate the positives. But really? Frost got some shots on goal and won a few faceoffs, and we are supposed to be excited about this? He had a break away and an empty net wrap around and couldn't convert. We need Frost, and others on the team, to start converting on their chances. The Flyers have a 8.5% shooting percentage, they need to be in double digits if they want to contend.

To frost defense, he is involved right. But it just always seems to come up short. Especially when it’s him shooting or making a scoring attempt. We have a bunch of just not good enough on this team. Frost isn’t the only one. And he’s better than some of the others…

how is the coach really helping this "rebuild"? he seems clueless with the lines. his answer is to change said lines. the game has passed hm by.

what players is he really helping?

When you are weak up the middle and on D your offensive production is going to suffer. Add in a coach who can barely keep a line together for a whole period and you are only going to make it worse.

Sanheim & York would be a fine 2nd pair on a top team, asking them to play 22-24 minutes every night as a top pair is just asking too much. The rest of the D are all 5-6-7 guys.

It’s even worse at center:
Frost lacks the consistency needed to be a 2C, so 3C is probably his ceiling
Couts looked solid last night, but nowhere near his pre surgery self. He’s a low end 2, high end 3C at this point. The rest are 4Cs or a kid who should be in junior.

And on that last point, if Briere is really in charge, he needs to send Luchanko back immediately. If he can’t, or worse yet won’t, then this franchise is seriously screwed. Stevie friggin Wonder could see that this kid should be playing junior hockey

1. Know you love the rumours, but it is early. This is the 'we’re-still-seeing-what-we’ve-got' phase. Predators GM Barry Trotz has the second-best hockey radio hit on The Game in Nashville. On Tuesday, he told hosts Willy Daunic, Derrick Mason and Adam Vingan, “No one is trading anyone right now. I would like to get a centre, but no one is giving their centremen away.”

Two toughest things to find: a stud defender and a top centre. No more zero in the win column after Tuesday night, where they opened with Colton Sissons between Jonathan Marchessault and Steven Stamkos.

2. Same situation for Calgary.

The faceoff leading to Seattle’s 1-1 goal last weekend illustrated a problem the Flames eventually will address. With Elias Lindholm in Boston, they don’t have a right-shot centre, leading to disadvantages in the circl

It’s not a huge thing yet, as Calgary continues its joyous start during this roster re-set. “Sending a first-round pick for a guy who would be here for a year doesn’t make much sense,” GM Craig Conroy told Sportsnet’s Eric Francis. “But if it was a first-round pick for a guy who would be here long term, we would be open to that.”

4. Cut-and-paste with Chicago, when it comes to centres. Centres for everyone!

Interesting. Brian Boucher on the telecast, who is an ex NHL goalie said that Fedotov, with his height, should look above his defenders to track the puck.
