When you are weak up the middle and on D your offensive production is going to suffer. Add in a coach who can barely keep a line together for a whole period and you are only going to make it worse.
Sanheim & York would be a fine 2nd pair on a top team, asking them to play 22-24 minutes every night as a top pair is just asking too much. The rest of the D are all 5-6-7 guys.
It’s even worse at center:
Frost lacks the consistency needed to be a 2C, so 3C is probably his ceiling
Couts looked solid last night, but nowhere near his pre surgery self. He’s a low end 2, high end 3C at this point. The rest are 4Cs or a kid who should be in junior.
And on that last point, if Briere is really in charge, he needs to send Luchanko back immediately. If he can’t, or worse yet won’t, then this franchise is seriously screwed. Stevie friggin Wonder could see that this kid should be playing junior hockey - BiggE
that is TBD

Am I the only one that likes them losing, i want a top 3 pick next year. Unfortunately i think they will turn it around and we will be drafting 10ish.. Need to force danny into a rebuild, because he sure isnt doing anything to help get high end talent. 3 first rounders may not help on the high end side |

Love the losing. It’s all about them thinking they are taking a next step though. They didn’t try to lose, they thought they were icing a competitive team. Kind of like how they fell on their face for the cutter pick. It wasn’t planned. |

I enjoy it more than them winning. that is what they have reduced me too.
said all along they will get a top 10 pick. 5-10 range was my prediction. |

Interesting. Brian Boucher on the telecast, who is an ex NHL goalie said that Fedotov, with his height, should look above his defenders to track the puck. - MJL
Yeah, and they went on and on about "adjusting" to NHL ice regardless of the fact that the majority of KHL rinks are NHL sized.

I’d rather see the Flyers draft high skill then see then make the playoffs right now. Yeah playoffs is the goal and you can’t win the cup without making it there, but until the team is consistently good in the regular season the playoffs are just wasting time.
Drafting is more than just one bad year to compete for 10-15 years. They can’t buy a team anymore, their performance depletes the players values to pull off franchise changing trades so the only option is drafting. If they can’t pull high end and immediate skill this draft with all the picks they have then I don’t think they ever will with current ownership. |

Its the way they are losing that aggravates me. They are not developing anyone. Not in this cluster(frank) that Torts has created with his desperate coaching style.

What pick does the high end talent drop usually, after pick 3?

I understand the desire for a top 5 pick and this team certainly needs another one for sure. The other potential benefit with being out of the playoffs early enough is the team can sell more pieces at he deadline for picks or younger prospects. But I hate the losing to be honest. It is not good to insert 18 and 19 year old kids into a losing culture, because 1. they don't develop and 2. this is what they become accustomed to. Just look at the Sabres if you want proof. So for those reasons, I would rather the Flyers winning and taking the next step, and finding a way to get the players they need via trades and free agency. |

To frost defense, he is involved right. But it just always seems to come up short. Especially when it’s him shooting or making a scoring attempt. We have a bunch of just not good enough on this team. Frost isn’t the only one. And he’s better than some of the others… - ClaudeFather
And its for this reason I think the Flyers have to move on from Frost. In general I think the Fyers need to tank this year. There I said it. I hate it. I don't want to endure another lost season but I see no alternative. The Flyers can't keep hoping players like Frost, Farabee, Cates, Tuomaala, Zamula, etc. are going to take the next step, because there not. The Flyers need to make some trades and start focusing on finding a true 1C and 1D. Laughton, Frost, Farabee, Risto should all be moved this year and then bring up Andrae and Tuamaala and see what you have. Finish as low as you can, get a top 3 pick and get another impact player to build around. Move Torts to a consulting role and bring in a good head coach to move this group forward. |

Bill is the Jett banged up? read some players are at this time. Or was he just a healthy scratch the 2 games? - hello it's me 2050
Not banged up. He's begun to press a bit. Not that sitting as a scratch in a B2B helps that (because it doesn't). |

He's full pressing now in the pressbox.

I think Frost is what he is and think he will be gone after this year. Instead of focusing on the frustration with Frost I want to know what the hell is going on w Farabee. He has been horrible and looks lost.
The losing is bad but if we can get a top 5 pick it will be worth it. Right now the only thing I can say is as least we have MM39. The kid is going to be a stud but they have to get players that have the talent to play with him.
Going to be a long year... |

I know, but I don't agree with him. Goalies that I talk to tell me the problem is when you try to look above your defenders by the time you find the puck and see it heading towards the net, you can't get down in time to cover as much net as you can. And we have seen that happen to Fedotov this year, where pucks go right through him because he is still in the process of getting down into the butterfly position, especially at this height. Its better for him to look side to side to find the puck because he would be closer to the butterfly position. |

It is well past the point with frost on looking good, it’s time to actually produce. Been the story his entire career - ClaudeFather
Frost has the 4th most points on the team in the Torts era; two behind Farabee in 12 fewer games. So what does "actually produce" mean?
Tippett and TK are the only ones producing more, and they have massive 8 year deals. Based on Briere's track record, Frost should be getting an 8 x $5m extension.

Fedotov is basically Garth "Gaping Five Hole" Snow without the need for the shoulder pads and the stupidly long pads. |

It's quite clear that every team they've played when Fedo is in net knows damned well that he really struggles with traffic in front. He looks like he has no clue how to handle it, though he seemed to adjust well last night in the 2nd half of the game. Perhaps that was because the team actually started playing better more than him getting better. Or both. Hard to tell but I don't have much confidence in him right now and it's clear the team doesn't either. Hence their stick banging on the wall when he made a good save. |

Then it’s decision time. Beyond stupid if he’s not playing regularly as an 18 year old. Even a rookie GM has to see that. |
