This would be my path.
- Make clean break from Torteralla
- Send Luchenko back to jrs
- Briere admit that they made some mistakes in what they thought and will make moves to correct that.
- Start making plans to move vets and money out. Even if it is guys like Tippett and Konecny. I know they were signed long term. So were Pierre Luc-Debuis and Keumpfer. Admit the mistake and move past it.
- Look at deals for Scott "the culture" Laughton
- Decide what the future of Cates is(Center vs Wing, Part of the future or not)
- Send Desluarier to lehigh and let him fight Rempe down there
I do think you can fix it by admitting it was not the right path.
Will they do it........Probably not. - J35Bacher
they 100% think they are on the right path. that is the funny and scary part

The @NHLFlyers sign undrafted free-agent Tim Kerr from the Kingston Canadians in the OHA."

It won’t be DB doing any of those things.
To have an 18 year old watching and not playing games is beyond stupid….these are days and games the kid can’t get back. It is such a big year for his development….there is so much there to work with, that this kid could really develop into something special. But the Flyers are doing what they do in butchering the development of their young players. - landros 2
Makes no sense. I guess my only difference of opinion is that I would not say Jett is a "special player." I think he tops out at a 2C if things go well with his offensive development. They still need to find that true 1C to play w MM

Guy was a beast.
My college roommate rented a house down the shore owned by Tim Kerr. One afternoon we were all playing horse shoes and drinking beers - living the life at the time. Tim Kerr pulls up to check in and see if the house was good and ended up hanging out w us for like 2 hours playing horse shoes. Super down to earth and just a really nice guy.... Something I will remember for my entire life. - Flyfly
He had more 40 and 50 goal seasons than Cam Neely. |

To me he has world class speed already. With and without the puck. He thinks thinks the game at high speed. His vision appears to be above average. His two way game allowed him to make the big club as a just turned 18 year old…He needs to work on his shot and build on a pretty impressive 2nd half last year. Watching from a press box is mind boggling. |

Yep! Kerr is still a top 5 Flyer for me. Take into account he was undrafted and you realize just how good he was. Knew how to put the puck in the net. Something we could use today on this team. |

Unfortunately, there is precedent. Luca Sbisa played 39 games for the Flyers until being sent back to Lethbridge. Coaching staff had Sbisa playing 4th line winger before being sent down, not a fond memory as a fan.

If everything goes right he could be an Anthony Cirelli.
He's got nowhere near the skill to even dream of becoming Brayden Point. |

I met him when he bought the Pensacola Ice Flyers -- he seemed amazed that I had a Flyers sweater on. We had a great conversation about the 80s teams - I told him the Flyers would have coined the cup if he was not injured in 87 |

Oh yeah, I am excited to watch the kid for sure. As you said he has great speed and seems to have a high IQ on the ice. I think he is going to be a very good player. If he ends up defying expectations and hits the 1C ceiling all the better.
The question is how long is Torts going to keep scratching him so he can have him stick around? At some point a decision needs to be made (should have already happened).

Luchanko needs to mature physically and get stronger on his skates. Especially at high speeds and he needs to learn how to attack defenses at top speed as well as learn when to vary his speed with the puck. Along with his shot. He can best do that in juniors where he will get far more offensive reps. |

Listen, this is a coach who publicly said before the season even started that he had an epiphany over the summer that the team needs to score more dirty and gritty goals. In the pre game interview before the second Washington game. He said he doesn't care about the offense that he is only concerned about defensive tracking.
- MJL
Fake news is at it again. Why don't you finish the statement from Torts regarding defensive tracking? You are such a fraud. Good thing I am hear to fact check you!
Torts stated right now the most imoprtant thing is how the players are tracking the puck defenseively because if done well that will generate turnovers in the neutral zone which in turn create more offensive chances 5v5. This is not rocket science to any of us that have played hockey, that good offense is generated by a strong forecheck and defensive tracking. Apparently it's news to you. |

If you think they will go 1-7 in their next 8 games how can you say they are a better team than their record? - corduroy
Teams go through ruts and bad stretches, consider how Edmonton started last year. The difference is the Flyers don't have MacDavid and Draisaitl to bail them out if the Flyers have a similar start to this season. |

Statistically speaking even the worst teams in the NHL win 1 of 4 games so the odds of them losing 14 in a row are slim (but not impossible!). I do feel MON might be their second win of the season if they start Ersson.
Also, I know we can be negative on this forum but, people are already posting next year draft articles. That's kind of cold.
https://phillyhockeynow.c...out-flyers-draft-chances/
Depending on your opinion of Jett Luchanko, you can argue that the Flyers do not have a blue-chip center prospect, just as they lack one on either side of the defense. - Flyers_01
I think Bill has it right when he states that there is not one way to build a contending team, and not all teams are built from top 5 picks. Boston, Tampa, Florida for example have core peices from later round picks and even the waiver wire. But of course if a team is picking in the top 5 they have a better chance of landing an elite player. Then again a team still needs a lot of luck and good development and environment to get the most out of that top 5 pick, assuming of course the player even wants to play for the team. Luchanko was a good pick and he'll be a good player in this league, but the Flyers surely need another potential elite center and of course a true top pairing defenseman. Depending on how this season goes, the Flyers might be able to get both in this draft. Finishing near the bottom of the league gets them a chance at a top center, and packaging their other two 1st round picks might enable them to move up into the teens where its expected to be some solid defensive prospects. The top 10 of this year's draft is expected to go heavy on centers and forwards. But do the Flyers have the patience to draft and develop or will they trade these picks for players. That is my fear. |

Yes, the Flyers should be better than 1-5-1 right now. There were some winnable games that just didn't go their way. |

Briere can send him back anytime he wants, why is it Tort's fault? Nothing wrong with a coach stating the obvious, that the centers on this team suck and they need help anyway they can get it. |

if center depth sucks and The Jett™ is so good - why has he been scratched in 3 of the 7 games, including two in a row? |
