Simpson said that so I took a look again. He clearly (on the overhead replay) has his stick in hand and just flat heads off. I didn’t see him loose stick ‘real time’ but Simpson said that so I needed to have a look.

It’s weird eh. Matthews is almost always the most reliable 2way centre in the league game after game. But the Columbus and St. Louis game (plus this play in OT) not so much.

Not worried about him for Leafs (he will be fine) but I don’t think the argument of ‘it’s early’ makes sense. There should be a ton of worry for team and Tre. This team has been making these types of mistakes (not just 34/16 but as a team) and playing with a lack of attention to detail, soft, no urgency, etc., for 9 seasons. To me that’s why it’s not ‘early’.
