Its actually pretty wild and annoying that they have had a 4-4-1 record after 9 games in 3 of the last 4 seasons |

All of which ended with first round exits....exvept once....they won two extra games.

That was what Matthews saw and thought he had an outlet and right after Marner turned back to the bench and Matthews didn’t see it.
poopty but it’s a mistake that was born of both being on the ice way too long - which they used to do in OT all the time.
I was happy the Leafs battled back to tie it late and get a point.
Stolarz ❤️ - Cush29
Agree, Stolarz was fine. The one sided officiating didn't impact the game much because the Leafs continue to be awful on the PP. Just shoot the (frank)ing puck! A slow roller ugly as (frank) shot is better than a pick off. Unfortunate rare poop the bed play by Matty at the end. |

Just think, Marchand is out there somewhere right now, having brunch, and gloating over last night while he enjoys eating his daily bag of diseased Richards.

The Penguins are tough to watch right now.
Crosby just signs for cheap so they can still win but man they just don't have a good team.
The Caps did a really nice job extending their window a little, Dubas has sucked.
Wouldn't hate a Bunting return at some point if they retained some money, but will Dubas sell 2 years in a row? Crosby wants to win. |

Bunting looked pretty meh vs the Canucks last night with alot of undisciplined play. You should pass. |

The Leafers need to protect Tanev - he’s not gonna last the year taking shots …blocking shots the way he does.
I don’t care how much of a Warrior dude is -…. He’s still 34.

Realistically Stolarz earned us a point.
There were a number of players yesterday who were quite poor - McMann principal among them - but also Domi, Nylander, Benoit, Rielly and I'd also say that outside of a couple of good hits, OEL. Myers didn't really do anything to stand out, but I guess he wasn't making any obvious mistakes.
Matthews wasn't that impressive other than the tying goal.
For me Pacioretty, Knies and for parts of the game, Marner all stood out. Marner has yet to play a full game this year - showing good moments followed by lackadaisical ones. At the end of the day we're not going to be winning games if more players are playing poorly or being outplayed than players who are doing their part!

I am hoping its a work in progress and am understanding Berube won't be able to get them to play his way right away.
I have liked Domi's mentality with shooting more, I think in the short term it might make him worse but at the end of the day this team has to change their habit of looking for the perfect play all the time.
Marner had a wide open net...same spot as Pasta when he scored and Swayman was even more out of position than Stolarz was.
They need to stop doing that. Marner has to (frank)ing shoot. |

The play Matthews made on the Knies goal was outstanding. It emphasizes the importance of driving the net. This is something the Leafs have difficulty with doing on a consistent basis. The peripheral passing into the corner then around the horn, has not been a successful strategy.
