Their wins weren’t against great teams, so it wasn’t me saying that lol. - Dozzer
Lots of teams getting points against weak opponents. That's been a large point of criticism in here. That the leafs lose to those teams and now when they beat them it's also a sign they suck.

They aren’t even in the playoffs closing in on 12.5% of the season being done.
Excuse making isn’t flying for me, they’re not learning, they’re playing like poop. - Dozzer
They are tied with 2 other teams with 9pts for 7th and 8th so they could have a spot and if not they are only pt back of a playoff spot.
We know they can easily on runs.
12.5% of the season is nothing, if it were 90% of the season done and they were 1pt out of playoff spot...then i could see worrying. Too early right now imo.
But they are playing like crap, agreed and their pp is garbage.

I have no idea why this team sucks each year for the powerplay. I just don't get it.

I have a tiny suggestion. On the top power play insert Knies (he of 235 lean pounds of muscle and 21" neck size). More shoot ins to gain entry into offensive zone. Park Knies considerable ass in front of goalie. Shoot (frank)en puck at net. Move JT to second PP unit.

Oh man, if marner did that....people would be raging for days. - Fakepartofme
Maybe, but he's known for give aways. Most brodcasters are saying the Leafs' PP is too predictable. And Marner shares a big part of the blame for this. When a defender plays against Marner on the pp, there is no guess work in what he will do. He's going to pass, so its easy pickings.

I’d rather have JT - better hands. I don’t think Knies is quite back his level of play last year. Some of that is the result of the line scuffling.

Big body in front would help though you know. Especially if they are gonna listen and stop being cute and pick more pucks towards the net.
JT better hands for sure - but it’s not working so mix it up I say

We've reached a point where a team with great offensive talent has had a dismal pp for the last thee months of the 23-24 season and has started this season poorly. A change in both approach and players would make sense to me. I see Knies battling his ass off, willing to hit, willing to drive the net while being good in his own zone. JT doesn't do these things consistently at this point. He has one PP goal and has one point more than Knies, despite being on the first unit for the entire season so far.

Also, separate marner and matthews.
Am, willie, knies, Oel, filler pp1
Jt, marner, domi, rielly, filler pp2
The three losses are the small sample size. The Leafs played the Rangers evenly. The only difference was the Rangers managed to run Stolarz three times without a call and Shesterkin was unmolested.
The Leafs beat the living poop out of Devils, Tampa and Pittsburgh. Those games were not close.
Leafs lost two with horrible goaltending. Both Hildeby and Woll had terrible games while the team was dealing with a flu bug. Last night could have gone either way. The sky is not falling. Its an unpleasant loss. - winsix
