I know what you're saying but I think when there's a systemic behaviour towards an organization, you look beyond the roster itself.

I've said this before and I am absolutely positive of it - Colin Campbell is still Parros' boss. He still pulls a lot of strings and he has a history of bias against players and teams - it's documented and was demonstrated in a court of law - there are transcripts proving it. His only defense to the proof was that he didn't know they'd be able to go through his emails. The NHL fixed it by promoting him.

Colin Campbell was expecting to be the Leafs' next GM in 2008, but the job went to Brian Burke - and Campbell felt the rug had been pulled out from under him, as he had already been telling people in the league office that he expected the formal offer.

To add to this - one of the teams in the middle of the pack for suspensions is probably one of the most egregious teams for dangerous hits - the Florida Panthers. Colin Campbell's son is the AGM of Florida. Let's not forget that Colin Campbell is George Parros' boss.

You say that no amount of evidence will sway you from thinking that the Leafs aren't punished worse than other teams. I say that no amount of evidence can sway me from believing that the DOPS and NHL League offices are and consistently demonstrate bias for and against certain franchises.

Last year’s treatment of the leafs was more than fair. Rielly got suspended and he deserved it. Literally went after a guy with a high stick 5 seconds after a goal, and it led to a six on five fight. As for fines they only had 2 player fines which would have left them beyond the top 10. Keefe joined in tho putting them up to three so they were top 7-8 I think? But still not top 3.

This team is also the richest. Wouldn’t be shocked that an “over-fine” is easily dealt with. The suspensions are deserved and not over the top. People mention 2018-19.. 2 suspensions.. to Hyman and Kadri. How does this affect the current leafs now as well?

Honest question. Fines are heavy sure, suspensions seem deserved, so why are the leafs being mistreated? Big whoop if it’s just about money.

How about instead of looking at it from the perspective of Rielly being suspended last year and deserving it (which he did), we ask about (1) comparative severity, especially for players with clean records, and (2) think about the plays which didn't even receive fines for guys like Trouba and Rempe.

So is that hit a suspension? Absolutely - all day, everyday and twice if he's a Leaf.

Quibbling over 1 game seems unnecessary - because I would have called that a 4 game suspension - but the point remains that the punishment levied out by the DOPS against the Leafs always seems consistently higher for similar acts, or is addressed for lesser acts, while ignored in other markets.
