I actually enjoy this type of losing more as it wasn't planned. Makes it entertaining.

I thought you wanted them to tank to get the highest picks they could? You don't want them to try to win and you don't want them to try to lose? Very hard for the org to meet that standard..

This team won’t finish last. Or near last for that matter. Still think they go on a heater at some point to stay in purgatory. Honestly probably the most entertaining outcome.

Not the way that they have been playing so far. I think they'll be bottom 5 for sure.

I picked the Flyers to finish last. I said that the Blue Jackets would be better than expected due to dedicating the season to Johnny Hockey, but some folks on here said that I was misguided. They have 34 goals in their first 8 games. Most ever for them at the start of a season. Of course, it's still early, but the two PA teams look like they may be battling it out for the basement.

There is nothing positive about the Flyers taking a big step back this year. The Flyers need to build a winning culture because that is the best way to develop young players and build a contending team. There is enough talent on this team for the Flyers to be in the playoff hunt this season. The key for me is what changes will happen. At some point the Flyers need to cut bait with players like Laughton, Risto, Frost, Farabee, etc. Luchanko and Bonk will be here next year at a minimum. Now its time to prepare.

That's false. The Flyers taking a step back this season could result in the most positive outcome possible. Potentially landing them the top pick in the draft. That will mean far more to this franchise moving forward than any mythical fantasy culture.

The Flyers are not a talented team Most of their roster would be third-line players on a contender. Full stop

I do believe the final 15 games of last season showed how things could go this season. Still no back up goalie and downgrade at starting goalie. An additional factor this season, York being out "at least 2 weeks". We are Flyers fans, we have seen this many times before- could be much, much longer. They pretty much dominated shots on goal except for the last 15 games. So far this season, not so much offense. Finally, year 3 of Torts antics and the team has still not been to the playoffs. Act starting to wear thin.

wow in the playoff hunt. what an accomplishment for the gold standard. half the teams make the playoffs. so, is being in the hunt really something to brag about? or something to lay your hat on?

you severely overrate the talent on this team. it is middling level talent. nothing stands out in any way. can't build a winning culture until you have better talent. surely a knowledgeable person like yourself knows this no?

you want them in the playoff "hunt" yet you want to gut the roster? can't have both holmes. what do you expect back in a trade for those 4 players. look forward to your response.

So far to this point, the hiring of Tortorella and the formation of the triumvirate has been an abject failure. They lucked into Michkov. Their luck will run out.

Wait people still exist that think the Flyers lose because they don't know what winning is yet?

Interesting....

It’s gonna to be hysterical when the Flyers finish dead last and Pittsburgh wins the lottery.

Personally I see Pittsburgh "winning" next year to draft McKenna. That almost seems like a done deal.

They only have two decent players. TK and Michkov would be nice 3rd liners on a good team There really is no hope at all..

I’m not as overly impressed with Briere as some….I wouldn’t call it an abject failure yet. I, like yourself can’t gloss over some of the miss steps. It’s not what I would call a passing grade but I think he deserves a tad more time …imo.

I think the NHL has already started selling Pittsburgh jerseys with McKenna on them..

It's a good point though. There's really no reason to try to tank as we won't win the lottery anyway..

haha I expect him to be traded because he doesn't fit our 40 year rebuild window.

Joking aside.. He's been better than I thought and seems to have adjusted well. I can't see him keeping up this pace all year, but I could see 50 or 60 pts maybe... I apologize for this post as it might be considered positive..

I was going to add that. We can't draft anyway, so what does it matter if we win the lottery or have several picks..

Not for me. I still believe the Flyers need a top talent, but I'm not sure the Flyers will get the "sure shot" top.

If the Flyers were still able to land Frondell or Misa I would be extremely happy which allows them to get a pretty good D man or two in the 16-26 range, possibly a swing at another forward for depth. Then comes the 2nd round with a chance to add even more depth at the goaltending position and 1st rounders that may slide.

The Flyers are in a great spot if they finally commit and get luck with that 1st pick.

Briere looks like he is in over his head. Having the head coach emasculate him while he was interim doesn’t exactly help his standing league wide. That being said he may be lucky. He lucked into Michkov. He may have lucked into a top notch goalie prospect. Watch he lucks into Colorado or Edmonton falling short with better draft picks or a lottery win. Sometimes being lucky is better than being smart.

I don’t think the team wins with him being GM though.

No thanks! There are generations now that don't even know what REAL music is. I feel sorry for them actually. That $hit ain't music!

Remember those old farts back in the day who would tell you and your friends to cut your hair and stop listening to that hippie poop?

Don't be that guy now.
