Hey guys,

Wow with both Mike Augello and Bill Meltzer leaving Hockeybuzz, I'm not sure how long the site will stay afloat or online...the end of an era might be coming...

Just so you know, if it does go down, there's an alternative on The Hockey News called the Canadiens' roundtable ( https://thehockeynews.rtb.../montreal-canadiens/posts )where you can comment on articles and reply to each other, just saying in case you need a new place to congregate...

How are you feeling about the current state of the Habs?

The season so far is a bit of a let down as I expected them to compete more on a daily basis and not that many blowouts early on. Maybe a guy like Dach needs more time and Newhook does not have the talent to drive a line.

I knew it could be an adventure on defense but you cant be in the mix and give 6-8 goals a night.

A few positives (Caufield, Hutson, Special teams, Anderson, Gallagher).
Alot of negatives (Newhook, Dach, the whole defensive system, general effort)

a bit is putting it mildly... yeah the defensive system is giving them all a headache...not sure they're ready to play that hybrid way...

As for Dach, 12 games in is quite a bit of time...but yeah no other choice...if he doesn't find his game before Laine's return, it will be tricky to develop chemistry as well...

fair assessment, I'd put Evans in positives as well, he's been one of the few bright spots.

Think he's gonna earn himself a good contract if he keeps it up.

I don't know how many years he'll be looking for but he's 28, so he certainly has a few good years of hockey left in him... unless they have a suitable replacement I don't see Hughes trading him or letting him walk away.

not now but with Beck, Kapanen and Hage in the timeline, Hughes might want to do 2-3 years while Evans might want a bit more security...will be interesting to follow for sure.

Why is no one commenting on the other bloggers' thread? The Rocket sports guys

that's a good point about Beck and Kapanen, as they could eventually end up filling that role, hopefully Hage has more potential to be in the top 6.

as for the other thread I have no idea lol, it seems everyone wants to stay in Hugo's thread.

guys, it's a very important day. things that happen in the future depend on what we do today. it's tuesday. so, if you have a fantasy football team, and you haven't already, go and pick your waiver wire pickups. you have until midnight. there is no tomorrow.

I think the Habs are at a point where they expect to be able to do more than they actually can, and perhaps set themselves up for false expectations with regards to contending for a playoff stop. Or at least, being within range late into the season.

Other than the first line, scoring has been inconsistent. Although, I am really enjoying the Anderson-Evans-Gallagher line.

Until recently, the PP looked pretty decent and the PK was going strong... both are falling off.

The big issue is defensively, so many lost assignments on coverage, especially when someone tries to make a play or gets caught up ice / out of position, there seems to be a lack of awareness on the ice to cover for that player.... this has lead to an astounding amount of bad goals.

I cannot really fault the goalies completely, given the bad plays in front of them, While they have both had their (few) moments, but they have mostly not been great either.

I still think the biggest issue / failure of the HuGo era is not forcing a veteran coach on MSL, someone who can help with structure, while also mentoring MSL.

At least CC is scoring goals... for now.

The whole world is gonna be knocking on your door, if this goes wrong.

I hope you are ready.

PS: Have snacks, that might appease them for a while. Even if it is just leftover/discounted Halloween candy.
