Yeah, as an almost 20 year old in a junior hockey league. Nice try, old guy.

Respect to the Flower.

Even though he was robbing my teams left and right (Tampa and Toronto).

Class act and helluva goalie.

Fleury should never have been traded... he meant so much to the team beyond just his play in net. Really, since he has been gone, he has won a hell of a lot more than the Pens have, hasnt felt like the same team and everywhere he has gone those teams have done better. To me, he is an all time Penguins great and should have his number retired here when he eventually hangs them up. First ballot hall of famer as well.

Imagine if back in the day we traded Murray for that rumored #6 pick from Calgary and kept Fleury in tandem with Jarry... we could have been in a much different situation.

Well the difference is that Yager is doing exactly what was expected of him and McGroarty definitely is not.

This is way too early to judge a trade like this but the minute I heard about it I thought it was reported inaccurately and that we had a first or 2nd rounder coming our way with McGroarty. Hope I am wrong but McGroarty might end up an average bottom 6 winger and I think Yager ends up a really good top 6 center.

Yeah I hope they retire #29. I enjoy watching him succeed everywhere he’s been. Watching 87, 71, 58 waste here is a bit of a shame.

If they never traded for brassard they could have both wild gs.

I’ll pull for MAF tonight.

hahaha a lot of might and maybes.

What was expected of McGroarty at a professional level this season? do you mean what you personally expected? His pro career isn't even a month old yet and they put him in bottom 6 in AHL, I'm not even sure who his line mates are but I don't think I'm going to pass judgement on any of it yet even with a rough start.

By the way, if a mid 1st round pick ends up with a regular NHL shift every season, anywhere in the starting lineup, that is a successful pick/prospect.

McGroarty moved into the top 6 a couple games ago. AHL juggles lines more often than Pittsburgh, but he's played the last couple on the top line with their leading goal scorer Katchouk and Poulin or Koivunen on the other wing (one game each).

Last year McGroarty was a top ten scorer in all of college hockey as a sophomore. There are always risks a prospect can't handle the next jump, but it's too early to get too concerned about it.

Not that you don't have a point in comparing them. This was a bit of a high risk trade for Dubas that you don't often see GMs make. But Matt is right that a guy with Yager's talent is going to put up cartoon numbers as an older player in the league (which is why they need to change the transfer agreement).

It's crazy man. I said last week if I were to put a puck battle succes rate on the Pens so far this season I'd say 20% haha

Remind me again why it’s better to let Mike Sullivan collect a paycheck and wait until the teams better to switch coaches?

Hopefully he pulls it all together. It's concerning that he wanted out of Winnipeg because they wouldn't guarantee him a NHL roster spot and now he wasn't able to get a spot in our lineup. Time will tell but my female doging and moaning is mainly because I was super excited with Yager and I felt like he is the better player even right now.

I’m all for Malkin and Sid playing together but put Bunting or 72 with them. Rak isn’t cut out for grunt work. Put Rak with Eller.

That's of course possible but none of the prospect rankings had them even close. Yager's number this year in the WHL are consistent with what he did there last year, and that wasn't good enough to have him highly ranked anywhere (other than in Pittsburgh).
