It's time that the Leafs did the right thing by giving this guy away to a crap team who can play him on the 2nd line.
He's never, ever going to earn a spot there on the Leafs.
Give him a fresh start. If he makes it, be happy for him. If he continues to demonstrate that he's not an NHLer, quietly nod your head and say you knew all along.

I don't know, but having depth on defense is a rare and good feeling to have. I think I would waive forwards over any of the D.
There are at least three forwards who wouldn't be missed and could be easily replaced by call ups.
Keep that D just in case.
