How can anyone with kids and grandkids not have a dog in this fight?

Nice game last night right through the lineup

- Canada Cup

I can only control what I can control. I did my part. I'm not gonna lose focus because a bunch of things could go to poop that I have no influence over. I'm old, poor, sick, don't have connections, and don't have a platform or influence outside my family. I'll be a good father and grandfather by example and that part won't change. I raised my kids right and they have done well for themselves. I'm instilling values in my grandson and he's a good kid. What else could I possibly do? I'm not gonna lose my poop, be a Richard, and get all super stressed out to the point where it impacts my health. I'm not doing my grandkid any good if I have a stroke or heart attack while we are out kayaking.

It is what it is. I'm not happy about it, but I'm not shocked or bent out of shape. The greater American public is obviously not buying what the democrats and progressives are selling. The so-called "left" and "progressives" have some soul searching to do. They need to regroup, reprioritize, get new leadership, and put together an agenda that actually excites the majority in a good way and gets middle America to buy in.

That's all I am gonna say about it in public. It's more than I have said out loud to anyone outside my immediate family. I'm going to hope for the best and prepare for the worst.

My hockey picks were awful last night.

I was very happy to be wrong about the Leafs pick. I went against my heart on that one, so I'm not mad that I was wrong. It's a silver lining. The rest of my picks were absolute trash as well. I need to do better.

OTT - BUF : OTT - wrong
BOS - TOR : BOS - wrong
CGY - MTL : MTL - wrong
PHI - CAR : CAR - correct
PIT - NYI : PIT - wrong
TBL - STL : TBL - wrong
LAK - MIN : MIN - wrong
UTA - WPG : WPG - correct
SEA - COL : COL - correct
VAN - ANA : VAN - correct
CBJ - SJS : CBJ – wrong

(4-7, .353%)

Overall : 13-14 (.482%)

Good win by the leafs, about time they beat Boston in regulation as they were O'fer the previous 8.
They have another B2B this weekend, Im sure the goalies with split the duties but the leafs really need to win both to begin to create some distant from the pack.

They have soul searching to do? LOL Weird that Biden had 81million votes previously and kamala has 15 million less?...heck even trump had 3 million less...which makes some sense as several former repubs were going to vote the other way.
So by finding out what appeals to middle america, I guess you mean they need to be convicted of rape, cut even more taxes for rich, get help from poophole russia, not have a second plan for a policy, not understand what tariffs are and talk about aliens eating cats and dogs?

Also Montreal seems ripe for the picking, their lately has been an absolute mess, need 4pts this weekend. Gotta start banking points. Matthews most likely out this weekend as well.

Not a Trump fan at all, but I find the whining by the left very funny. Trudeau is next. Gone, bye bye. The left has only themselves to blame. Complete incompetence both in the US and Canada for years. The pendulum will continue to swing back and forth.

Fair enough. I would wouldn’t blame the left. This wasn’t an election about ideas or policies. It was the country giving a crazy man the permission and authority to go after the people they’ve been convinced are responsible for everything wrong in their lives: immigrants, trans and women.

well they did circumvent democracy to put forward the worst possible puppet candidate they could find. I dont think that resonated well with the independents that massively went the other direction.

Didn't Dubas almost trade a 2 1sts, Knies and Mrazek for Hagel and MAF at the TDL only for it to be shut down by Shanny or was that a nightmare

Won't lie as I was typing 'check out the big brains' this movie scene instantly popped into my head - such a great flick.

I think someday you'll get people a lot smarter than us who break down the way these events happened socially. One take I've heard is that the right gives people targets to hate - the left doesn't. I also believe in the pendulum effect - and I even, fiscally, don't have a real horse in the race. I'd love it if the money were there to help everyone all the time - but it's not. Corporations are rich blood sucking entities, but they do need attending to as well in order to facilitate the needs of the people.

The irony is that in my opinion the targets to hate are the wealthy who have everything and have left table crumbs for the rest. Most people are scrambling to pick up the crumbs and left feeling without and hopeless. I'm of the opinion that this is really the problem behind shootings and rage violence - America is sold on being the land of the free with the American Dream - but it's barely achievable by anyone. I'm not saying that's who you shoot, but I am saying that in general that wealth disparity is the gap you need to close - so fiscally I'd be generally aligned with some of the democratic ideals there, but they pay lip service. Both political parties are composed of exceptionally wealthy people who don't want to be affected either. I also don't know the solution - but I do believe that the wealth gap is probably the #1 problem affecting Western society.

Ultimately, personally, the issue I often take out of these things is quality of life. Right? Like basic rights, general equalities and so on - and being non-religious skews my view one way towards my view of what's fair.

So I would, personally, sit on the left side of the fence, but there are things on the right that make sense at the right time, and things on the left side of the fence that don't make sense at times, too.

bold strategy, let see if it pays off.

its probably a lot of people feel stuff is too expensive, and the current gov is to blame..they think, so got to make a change.

the poorer folks feel it the most, and its going to get worse for them
