Making this a fully pornographic + hockey forum would surely revive it.

Seriously? If so, my pick is changing to BOS.

Leafs' record without Marner over the past 3 years: 14-8-3 (.620)
Leafs' record without Matthews over the past 3 years: 12-6-0 (.667)
Leafs' record without Rielly over the past 3 years: 22-4-1 (.833)
Leafs' record without Nylander over the past 3 years: 1-0-0 (1.000)
Leafs' record without Tavares over the past 3 years: 7-0-0 (1.000)

Leafs record over the past 3 seasons 150-68-28 (.667)

Pick your poison. Morgan Rielly's absence is quantifiably, based on the amount of available data, better for the Leafs.

The only one of the Core group whose absence makes the team objectively worse is Marner.

Morgan Rielly is a better skating Tomas Kaberle.

Good at what he does but not good enough to do it all by himself.

And the (little) help they've given him (including right now) hasn't been enough.

I'm looking at a variety of statistical factors, applying some personal knowledge, eye test, and no less than three quasi-scientific probability predictors to arrive at a possible outcome that is then vetted by an occult source. I then throw that answer in the garbage and go on my gut.

I was already on the fence and initially rated this one as a toss up, then Leafs with a Matthews breakout. Without Matthews, the Ouija board said Boston, Magic 8 Ball says Leafs, and gut swung over to Boston.

Time to get better tools.

The Leafs bottom six is weak as balsa wood. Ain't no 2 million stones that each weigh more than a car being rolled on those.

Sorry, the "cap" is a garbage excuse for why the Leafs supporting cast is usually garbage.

Boston doesn't seem to have a problem with their bottom-six players and barely spend money on them. Even when they lose them, they get replaced seamlessly and the team continues to move forward.

Leafs just suck at drafting, developing, acquiring, and signing the correct bargain players.

When five out of your bottom-six are garbage, you're not going far when the games get tougher.

They waste money on plugs like Kampf and Reaves. That's 3.75 million. Wasted.

Stolarz has the better numbers so far this year but he already got a start against the Bruins and lost. I think Woll should have got the start tonight. Give him a chance to rebuild his confidence against a team he played exceptionally well against last time he played them.

Also, fire Savard. If the PP was even average, the Leafs could be 1st in the division right now.

Berube may have a similar tecord as Keefe but underlying numbers are much better. Still got guys coming back, which also will mean Tre making a move, so overall not panic time. They get healthy and sort out the PP and thinking we should be alright. Overall not too concerned.

Hopefully can see guys step up bigtime tonight here.

I think it was to be expected that the first few weeks and months would be an adjustment period for the Leafs for 5 on 5 play. But the powerplay is panic time. Really think they need to fire Savard sooner rather than later because this team just can't win in the playoffs unless the PP is on point.

Because if he was Makar or Hedman etc. he'd be in the Leafs 11+ AAV club.

That's just the going rate for offensive D who can't play D these days in TO.

I was trying to think of another word to insert instead of panic that is worst than panic and I cannot.

It incredible how inept the PP is at the moment.
