Yet they win and this place is crickets. Not on you, just saying...
I know I was fansplaining it yesterday but another reason this place has earned the BOD moniker. - HawkintheD
Hey D. It’s kinda like the first bears game where they beat TEN. Sure they won, but there were so many issues present that it’s hard to get excited about it.
I like the way they are trending defensively. On offense, there is very little to point to as an improvement outside of not getting grossly outshot every night. You can see them slowing down thinking about what to do with the puck instead of just doing it. I still watch and enjoy the game, but just too many times that I see indecision that kills momentum (TY in the bottom six should be over right now). |

You dont watch the game but someone else who did is posting poop. And yes i would have selected demidov over arty, thats a preference. You have your own. And the reason i prefered demidov is because what this team needs most is someone who can put a puck in the net, which from what i am reading from the four or five self styled elites with hockey knowledge on this board is what the hawks needed and still do. And please let me know after how many games we hockey illiterates can post stating that bedard so far this year has been poop. - LFS
You didn't just say Bedard was playing bad, you posted there was nothing elite about his game.
On Lev...his body language was bad. What does that even mean? Why did you think it was bad? Just sounds like a lot of interpretive BS coming from a guy who wanted the Hawks to choose another guy.
I would've been good on them picking Demidov if they did. They picked Levshunov, so as a fan I'll root for him to hit the ceiling they think he has and you can keep doing whatever you're doing. |

Yeah I agree, not sure there is enough offense to spread out. They were being horribly outshot in the DAL game and true there have been a few others.
Last night they were even in shots with the Wild going into the 3rd and they kind of turtled.
A Hawk win over a pretty good Wild team feels better to me than a Bear win over a bad Titan team. What looked like a promising season has quickly turned sour. I'll confess that when I posted what you replied to, there was still some lingering Bear loss hangover effect in play.
I wish I could just fast fwd to the part where they can Eberflus and Waldron. |

It is not possible to get a good 2C. Every good team is looking for one. But could they add a good RW? Some non-contending teams may have a good RW they would let go for a 2nd round pick, Kurashev and a prospect. Some one that has a solid 200' game with ability to cycle the puck and add some scoring. (Think of a 25 year old Patrick Sharp, before he fully blossomed.)
I like Taylor Hall more than most on this board. But a top line of Hall Bedard and a good RW.
Bertuzzi, Foligno, TT on the 2nd line.
D!ckinson, Mikheyev, Anderson on the 3rd line.
Maroon, Smith and Reichel on the 4th line.

They enter the zone very poorly. It’s almost always three wide. There’s rarely any levels to their attack. They also tend to skate into each other a bit too often. - Chunk
They don't really have anyone on the blue line right now to be a threat so that's just where we're at.
Theoretically Levshunov and or Korchinski help mitigate that problem and LR has told Jones that he plays too many minutes to just carry the puck up and be running all over the place.
Vlasic was starting to get a bit more active and involved. That helped create some chaos and chances. |

Trying to project possible scenario with the Blackhawks lineup based upon the talent in the system and NHL team is an exercise worth thinking about now that we appear to have a for real legitimate scorer who should be here maybe after even a half season next year in the AHL
Of course I am thinking of Lardis
Of course we don’t know what move(s) KD will make after this season. Who knows whether a top choice is a future top line forward and or a top line current NHL could be an addition on next season’s team
So what I am surmising is, there needs to be some size and toughness flanking Bedard and hopefully a second line ace whether that could be Lardis or someone else
The rebuild has several big and smaller changes coming for sure. In both Lardis and Nazar scoring shows this season the Blackhawks could have pieces to make two legitimate scoring lines - jhawk59
At this point with Nazar being a over a PPG I think he's probably proving he doesn't belong there. |

Is that really a blue line issue though when the forwards already have the puck and enter the zone like that? There was some crossing/exchanging going on for a few games that at least gave the defense something to think about, but that seems to have gone away.
Bedard isn't able to forecheck all that well at this point of his development. He has a great shot and can see the ice very well. He needs someone on his line that can win a board battle and someone who can keep up with him. I'm sure that's why LR keeps going back to Foligno on his line, but I'm still bewildered that Bertuzzi hasn't been bumped back up there. |

the problem is that they don't have any forwards that are waiver exempt other than Bedard, and he sure as hell isn't going down. So, unless they trade someone, they'd be sitting three forwards and only have six (healthy) defensemen. |

Nice to see Lardis working the front of the net to score and not just wristers from outside.

Many keep saying trying to trade for the next Patrick Sharp, if there is ever a profile that mirrors Sharp it's this kid. Goal scorer, really good skating, this year is playing a tougher brand of hockey, and coincidentally drafted in the 3rd round.

Or bedard - LFS
I agree but at the same time what i notice from Bedard is he's using this season to be a Patrick Kane. He's trying to keep possession in the ozone on his stick while using the edges of his skates and learning how to create space for himself. It's not great right now but it's not terrible. |

I was going to quip that Sharp was much bigger than Lardis, but then I did my homework. Sharp was listed at 6'1" and 195. Lardis (as a 19 yo) is listed at 5'11" and 185. 14 goals in 16 games isn't bad at all. He's still probably about 2 years away, but at least he's already signed.
I'm interested to see what happens in Brantford when Vanacker returns. Should be a really good team. |

If they are going to keep S Jones on PP1, Jones needs to get to the rink early like Bedard and Jones needs to just keep feeding pucks to Bedard along the left dot until Jones can actually consistently deliver a puck in the wheel house of Bedard for a one timer, sheesh how many times does Bedard have to collect the puck and reset. |

The problem with this is that there are precious few other players that can put the puck in the net. They need to be finding ways for him to get shots off in space. |

I know they seem to like Vlasic on PP2, but from what I've seen in the last few games, Kaiser is actually a pretty good passer. Jones is gonna stay on PP1 until Arty or KK prove to be the guys to replace him. I know that doesn't help you (or anyone else) sleep at night, but it's the fact of the matter. |

If you had watched the game you would know what I meant but instead you, being one of the annointed elite experts on all things hockey here, chose to attack someone expressing an opinion. I said there is nothing so far of what i have seen of bedard that leads me to believe his play is elite. Maybe were watching different players. I wholeheartedly support and hope Levshunov becomes the player we drafted. Me expressing my opinion onhis play up to now does in no way imply that he is a bust or that we should not have drafted him. My opinion is based on his play and not on his, or bedard’s potential. I am sorry that you and the other elite hockey experts here are offended by stating the obvious of what is happening on the ice. Bedard has what three goals after 14 games? I’m sorry but i would expect more from a generational talent and i hope this will change as the season goes on. How many different forwards have been put on his line with no change. Maybe hes the issue at this point in time. Reading the comments of some of your elite partners here it would seem that one cannot criticize the play of a player without being accused of calling that player a bust. No one wants to see our guys and team succeed more than I do. |

That's fine, but as a player if you really are concerned about winning wouldn't you go to practice early, because you know Bedard is always there, and just work on feeding him pucks until you can consistently put it in his wheel house for a one timer?

Sure. There are always confounding factors though. Everyone knows that Bedard is the best shooting option, so they try to take that away. I fully agree that Jones can be better at passing, but the opponents are doing everything they can to take that away. More movement and stop trying to make the pretty play happen.
Pang said it best during the game. The Hawks actually had guys net front last night on a late PP and no one even attempted to put a shot on net. If I was the net-front guy, I'd be pissed too. |

The Hawks have 2 top 6 forwards. Bedard and TT. Seems Bedard is being used as a play maker and puck distributor a lot.
Remember all the excuses on this board when Toews wasn’t playing at an elite level? He needed a top 6 power forward on his line to help.
If it was TT Toews Foligno we’d be hearing excuses left and right.
Bedard is 19. No consistency in line mates. No chemistry with anyone really. Dragging around guys that might be on the 4th line on a playoff team. |

Everyone has been trying to stop Ovechkin for years from the left dot and he's close to breaking an unbelievable record. All I'm saying in the NHL you only have seconds to get a quality shot off, for example Jones had a wide open lane on the PP to pass it to Bedard and Bedard was cocked and ready, then the brutal pass went to Bedard, reset, opportunity dead. The cost of getting rid of a Patrick Kane. |

Stop making proclamations about a 19 year old.
Idk the last time you even posted something positive. Just constant bashing of the young players.
TT 8 pts in 16 games -9 2nd lowest plus minuse
Kurashev 4 pts 15 games -11 leads forwards
Hall 16 games 6 pts
Bertuzzi 16 games 6pts
Seth Jones second highest point total. Tied with Donato.
Maybe just maybe Bedard is elite and he’s got absolutely no help around him and he’s 19….. but continue to rip on him and proclaim he has no elite skills.
