Can't change the lineup now. MM can continue to sit until he learns how to play the turtle style appropriately.

Just win, baby.

That’s the part I love. Sit michkov for nd. What the actual F?
- Hextall271

They won didnt they? Michkov needs to be an elite player on a nightly base for this team. They have to play defensive hockey because they dont have the elite talent. Michkov needs to play like he did in the first 6 or 7 games. His play has really dipped since then. Obviously we dont want this to be a routinely occurance but Ive mentioned that he looked like he needed to be sat for a game a week or so ago. Im sure when he returns (Hopefully next game), he will have some jump to his game similar to when the season started. It isnt as if his leash hasnt been long either. We've seen the mistakes from the start, his play was just outweighing the mistakes. Lately mistakes have been his only contribution, a lot of times I dont even see him when hes out there with Coots and Kone, I see them passing between eachother and Michkov is not involved in the plays.

By this logic they should keep the same lineup.

Also, how many players are elite level on a nightly basis? That is an unrealistic expectation.

Why not dress MM and let him "learn" from the bench instead of playing with 11 forwards. Torts is an innovator.

These moves have been consistent with torts all along -- he did the same things when your were screaming that he was the coach of the year

Last year Leo Carlsson as a rookie played about 55 games, not because he was injured, but because as a player coming out of juniors he had never played 82 games in a season, against the level of play that the NHL throws at you. Michkov is in the same boat. If the Flyers have a plan to limit his games to help him adjust to the NHL game, like Anaheim did with Carlsson, I have no problem with that. But then just say it. Torts just says its part of the process. Ok, explain the process then.

They have no such plan. They are playing it day by day, like they always do.

Part of this is about the coach showing everyone I am the boss.

That’s what I was going to say. If the plan is to win games which it shouldn’t be, then he gives them the best chance.

Fedotov has actually earned the right to have multiple starts over the next few weeks- I did not think was possible. He looked competent and made an adjustment during the game on wraparounds. He seems pretty good playing behind the goal- maybe not ice the puck as much. Not suggesting Fedotov is legit, just intrigued to see more play. Credit to him.

No issue him sitting. I just do not trust the coach is all. Can't imagine what questions he asked MM

I agree. Looks like he put in the work and is improving. He needs to keep it up.

Torts is not a good coach but players need their head in the game, not watching a tablet all the time.

This is about MM not watching the game, not watching how the opposing team plays, just watching himself. You watch the game to you learn players tendencies'.

Not saying don't watch his own replays but watch the game more. Maybe in Russia it didn't matter because he was so good, but over here it is completely different.

Maybe watch Kucherov and see where he goes or does when he does not have the puck. Watch the Dmen, where do they go and what do they do. Watch the goalie, maybe he drops to his knees early, so elevate the puck next time.

I really think he was heading to the AHL when Ersson came back. He took his 1 shot and made the most of it. When Ersson and York return, 3 goalies will not be on the roster. I believe Kosolov has been more consistent, but Fedotov has been able to reach a higher level of play. No idea if that will continue, but that is my scorecard at the moment.

We can only hope that they would send ND to the AHL to keep 3 goalies.

I like how Kolosov has looked, he just looks like a goalie with an attitude.

I think it is really hard to practice with 3 goalies. When healthy, Ersson in theory should get 45-50 games this season. The remaining games available will just not be enough for 2 goalies. I do think Kosolov will play in the NHL again, but he is injured now. At the very least, I expect him to go back to the AHL for a conditioning stint.

All Michkov learned sitting upstairs is good grief some of these guys suck and why is Nic D even in this league.

Honestly. They all had jump last night. More job than they’ve had with Michkov in the line up. The team just can’t finish.

I don’t think they had more jump because Michkov was out of the lineup. They probably were more motivated by Fedotov having to go in in a tough spot. They have to feel somewhat responsible for Fedotov’s tough start tot he season. He seems like a likeable guy and his English is much better than Kolosov’s.

I miss Bill. Still can't believe it and there was no prep for it. Hopefully someone will take over so we can resume the daily "discussions" about our favorite team. I agree with 'Hello it's me' in that MJL should take over. Have a great weekend everybody and go Flyers!
