I disagree.
Marner is one of the best 2-way forwards in the game. He's good 5-on-5, PP and PK.
You might be confusing him with Nylander, who is all offense, but not struggling at all in Coach B's system.

I could see Marner going to NYI. Lou knows him and they need scoring. Leafs have always like Pageau dating back to Nylander rumours. Pageau + Wahlstrom + pick for Marner at 50% is cap neutral. Lou needs to be sure he can extend him though.

1. Pageau (perennial avg 25pts guy with 5 already this year)

2. Whalstrom (perennial avg 6pts with 0 already this season)

3. AND A PICK?!

Marner in TOR deserves at least Nylander money, otherwise he should walk. And he won't get as much in a trade the longer it drags on

It's crazy how years ago everyone was saying these contracts would come back to hurt the leafs and like a watching a slow moving train coming towards them, MLSE did nothing to change it.

Ducks could probably do a trade with the leafs. Maybe Owen Zellweger, Frank Vartano, and a prospect, plus a high 2nd or low 1st round pick. The Ducks would probably want Nylander though since he's already under contract.
