If this is in reference to Hakanpaa - wouldn't that be on the medical staff? Like the player's agent would make available all medical history and documentation regarding his recent surgery and then the medical staff would be expected to have reviewed everything well in advance of July 1 so you could make informed decisions.
I could be wrong. I have these weird expectations of hockey teams - like in my mind my billion dollar hockey team wouldn't need to go buy a public website for cap management purposes because I'd already be doing it in house and better. Meanwhile who knows what half of these dinosaurs are doing.

I suppose. Just strange that it seems to have happened two years in a row. |

Well, having guys on LTIR is a tactic now so why not trade for one. Maybe Hawkentua can come back for game 1 of the playoffs. |

I don't think any of us knows. Treliving said in a presser on July 2 that he didn't have any concerns.
Maybe he meant that it wouldn't matter because they could void the deal, but he had said that he expected Hakanpaa to play and help with the PK.
He didn't say _when_ he expected him to play, mind you.
I still think - as per my post above - that I can't imagine teams not doing basic due diligence with available information (it's private, obviously, but shared with interested parties).

I was under the impression that they knew about Klingberg's issues they just didn't think it would blow up into a full blown problem when it did.
That said, you have a guy who was good 5 years ago and has been garbage for 5 years because of known hip issues that require surgery and you figure you'll give him $4m to continue to be garbage? Ignoring the fact that he was exactly the type of player we didn't need, it was just a bizarre signing all around.

The idea was that he could be a QB PP with heavily sheltered minutes. They went down this road with Barrie and now they're tweaking it with OEL.
If Rielly could start to dominate on the PP, and be a true PP QB, the Leafs would be less inclined to try to fill the gap with these types of flawed gambles. |

You're talking about the same guys that probably told Dubas: "Matt Murray? Of course he'll be fine! Why wouldn't he be?" |

At least OEL is a better bet than Klingberg ever was.
Only hopeful fools thought this had a chance to work out well last summer.

Last year's FA signings were franking terrible.
Other than Domi, they all turned out to be busts or nothingburgers. |

Bertuzzi looked like a good signing.
It didn't turn out that well but I liked it at the time.

Oh (frank). I thought I had wiped that from my mind.
I guess they did ressurrect Tyler Ennis' career, so maybe they have a betting game where they see if they can save careers? |

I don't know about anything Kypreos says.
He's like the guy from Memento without the tattoos.

Really, ROR calls up the GM in the summer and tells him who to acquire? I'm skeptical about that.
