What roster battles on defense? Looking at the roster, I myself see all 7 spots already spoken for as they head into camp. Maybe Zamula is the only one who may not be a 100% lock.

Zamula isn't a mortal lock. We don't know how healthy Ristolainen will be. Attard is no longer waiver exempt. Is Ginning at the now-or-never point for his NHL hopes. Where is McDonald in the depth chart? Andrea?

I am going off all being healthy. If they are it is 99% set.

Both Attard and Ginning are at the crap or get off the pot phase. I get the impression the Flyers just do not think of them as everyday NHL defenseman.

They are going to continue to hype this Hunter kid up. All because he oozes Flyer traits.

What value does Zamula have? Mid rd pick? I rather play and keep him for now.

There should legitimately be competition for two roster spots on the defense but there isn't. There really is only one barring injury or health issues with Zamula having the edge for that spot.

Briere has been quoted saying something like if guys come to camp and prove they should be on the roster, they would make room for them.

I dont see Zamuls not making the team though. Hes been a big part of Michkov's acclimation. He seems like hed be kept around just for him.

Unless you push Seeler out of the lineup or trade Risto i dontbsee any room. Perhaps theres a scenario where someone really impresses at camp an Seeler gets moved to 7th D. Always possible Seeler regresses. Not too long ago he was a 7th D

Bill, I agree with you that I see Jett making the Flyers out of camp next season. Looking forward to seeing him have a big +1 year.

I would rather move him and give Attard a chance.

Where did Bill state that Luchanko will make the team out of camp next season? You keep repeatedly making a big deal out of his draft +1 season and are overvaluing it.

Almost as riveting as the epic competition between Syvret, Parent, Krajicek, Tollefson and Bartulis.

For the start of the season I agree if Risto is healthy. If Risto remains healthy the goal would be to show that to other teams and move him before the deadline. Thus I expect at least one top 6 spot will open up. EJ can be 8th on the depth chart. Seeler has just been extended but I believe he has a very tradable contract. Also a big year for Drysdale to prove he can stay on the ice and develop. There is also a chance Sanheim could be dealt at some point.

If everyone is healthy, there is really only one spot that might be open. When are you going to admit that acquiring Ristolainen was a complete and utter disaster?

Team would be where people want them to be.

#1 Im assuming that deal involved no retained Cap on Hayes
#2 D probably would have been worse and the team likely would have reflected that
#3 Krug would be out meaning there would be more spots open for someone from the Phantoms to make the team.

The Flyers will not find a taker for Risto this year in my opinion. Maybe next year if he plays well. Seeler and Sanheim control their fates via trade for the most part. I do not think they should trade York or Drysdale. So that leaves Zamula and Johnson. Either could be moved to make room. I just don't think any of other d-men will force the Flyers hand.

I agree with you. Nothing is impossible but moving Ristolainen this year or even in the future will be difficult. He is going to continue to degrade as a player.
