Nice to see this site working again and a new blog all good.

Day 3 for camp and they will be working on the PP. Wonder what new approach will be taken by RT and Twins…?

Thanks Yorkie!

I hope Lekkerimakki can step up this year, but I also hope we do not rush the kid. Watching him in the Young All-Stars tourney was inspiring, and I hope he takes a massive step in the right direction regarding his development.

I wish DJ and Demko a speedy recovery, as well!

Starting to get concerned the Canicks may lose players like Aman, Wolanin and PDG on waivers.

Until Petey earns it, his contract sucks. He wasn't even the 2nd best player on this team last year. You don't win with potential.

That Ohtani kid though.

- Load Management

Ohtani is just so good, what can you say, he's a world class player. Just like Freddy (Elias) Pettersson. Dbacks have slid a bit lately but they're still right there in the wild card spot for the NL.

Pettersson has earned his contract, that's why management gave it to him lol. You keep operating that shovel and let the Canucks management, who've done an amazing job in a short period of time, do the contract thing.

Winning is a team aspect, which is a collective accomplishment by several different individuals. Players get paid to produce, which Pettersson has done! Over the past two seasons he's 10th in total points, over three seasons he's 17th, out of 750-800 players. It isn't about what he gets this season, for money, it's about how he performs over the life of the contract. His past performance would indicate it's a fair contract for both sides.

You don't think they can win with this group anyways, what do you care?

I believe we, as fans, will see some enjoyable hockey. Looking forwards to seeing some consistent fore-checking from New guys like Sherwood, DeBrusk and Blais, to help out Miller, Garland and Joshua when he returns.

I was kidding, as I'm sure you're aware. Should be a fun year. I think the team is deeper and should be able to play with more grit.

General Manager Patrik Allvin announced today that the #Canucks have agreed to terms with G Kevin Lankinen on a one-year contract worth $875K.

Seems like good value.
Hopefully this allows Demko to take all the time he needs to recover and be ready to take the reigns later in the season.

Hopefully Dakota Joshua isn't out long, but it does open up a spot for someone else on the opening night roster.
I wonder if Blais has the inside track so far.

Good signing. Apparently the goalies have looked a little rusty, so maybe this provides more stability/competition

This is the kind of antiquated thinking that sinks teams. That could potentially be a brilliant contract for the Coyotes if that kid goes off and becomes a perennial 30-40 goal scorer. He had 18 goals last year in 45 games as a 20 year old.

You don't just get paid for what you've done, you get paid on potential, kinda like the Pettersson contract. They're betting he'll be a perennial 90 point player over the life of that contract.

Am I the only one that remembers Pettersson scoring 102 points?

I like how GM Alvin doesn't seem to overspend on how much they budget for a player.
eg letting Zadorov walk and not over spending on Lankinen.

That's exactly what I said...."You don't just get paid for what you've done". Meaning scoring 102 points, he's also getting paid on the potential that he'll do it again, or close to it.
