Wasn't Vinnie on Sid's line to start camp last year? Then they sent him to the AHL to start the year. I wouldn't read too much into any of this.

Same. It's not like they need camp to see how DOC looks on that line.

It might show who is starting off in the top 12 spots though, and to nobody's surprise, it's none of the young guys. Probably see a couple of the waiver guys stick around as depth. Guys like McGroarty and Ponomarev that don't need waivers there is probably no need to put on the team if they aren't playing. They need to make top 12, and in McGroarty's case I'd say top nine, to stick.

I agree. That being said, tweaking this a tad would make for an interesting lineup.

DOC-Crosby-Rust
Bunting-Malkin-Rakell
Beavillier-Eller-Glass
McGroatry-Ponomorev-Puljujarvi
Acciari

That would be a good starting point. The left wing can completely flex depending on how McMgroatry acclimates. If Glass and Puljujarvi look good, maybe you move Glass to C, Eller down, and Puljujarvi up. If anyone flounders you just plug Acciari right back into the fourth line.

Kevin Hayes can go eat nachos.

Lizotte is close to a lock to make the roster.

One of the interesting things about the roster construction this year is that many of their waivers guys they'd actually be happy to lose.

Not gonna lie, read Glass for the Pens and immediately thought "Tanner Glass? What year is this?" docbrown.jpg

Goddard was a defenceman.

Also Mcsorley, Steve macintyre was a beaut. Engelland had some good scraps. That ko of Colton Orr was a good one. Dave Schultz. Laraque. Reaves.

You could make a real mutant league hockey team out of these guys.

Roster for tomorrow:

Goalies (2): 30 —Joel Blomqvist, 39 – Alex Nedeljkovic

Defensemen (7): 3 – Jack St. Ivany, 5 – Ryan Shea, 25 – Sebastian Aho, 27 – Ryan Graves, 38 – Owen Pickering, 45 – Harrison Brunicke, 82 – Filip Kral

Forwards (13): 2 – Rutger McGroarty, 9 – Marc Johnstone, 13 – Kevin Hayes, 14 – Boko Imama, 15 – Joona Koppanen, 19 – Cody Glass, 22 – Sam Poulin, 44 – Jonathan Gruden, 46 – Blake Lizotte, 55 – Noel Acciari, 72 – Anthony Beauvillier, 74 – Tanner Howe, 85 – Avery Hayes

Blomqvist maybe getting right back in there after a rough game, though maybe Ned gets some work

A few more vets playing though the top half of the lineup is largely still not making their debut as normal.

Several of the clear cuts getting their second game because they'll probably be sent down soon. Guys like Howe, Brunicke, A. Hayes, Pickering, etc.

McGroarty, Glass, Graves some of the more interesting getting a second straight game as they try to make a bigger impression.

Besides McGroarty and Glass, a lot of the bubble forwards are rotated with Puustinen, Ponomarev, Koivunen, Bennstrom, Puljujarvi all out and Poulin and Gruden in.

Honestly, not as exciting of a lineup, but the added vets plus Buffalo playing more prospects should make for a more even game.

How in the world can you make this team without Carter? Have to think Roberts and Harkins get serious consideration.

Hmmm that’s weird. For some reason this whole time I thought he was a defenceman and I absolutely loved him. Getting old I guess haha.

Maybe he could be the head coach despite never being head coach here.

I'd probably slot Ruutu into that lineup, as well....
