Why in the world would the Rangers do that? They, on paper, should make a deep playoff run and attempting to do that by adding Marner and having to play Quick as their starter every night would probably make them worse

Not firing Sullivan. Trading Guentzel for futures. Signing flippable vets like Beauvillier and Greyz then playing them too many minutes. Acquiring liabilities for futures in Glass and Hayes. Making no effort to improve an irrelevant team. All signs of rebuild.

If they get hurt they’ll still get paid unless it’s career ending lol. I’m just saying cost of keeping star players has gone up. Anaheim, Columbus , Utah could all pay Shesterkin big big big money and no way the rags can match that . No reason for a super star player to sign early and their agents know it.

Fair, but all four have full NMCs and the NHL is a gate revenue league that those four help draw fans to the games. Not sure any of them want to leave either.
