If Clarke hadn't been fired, Flyers would have taken Jagr (that is per 1990 Hockey News Draft Preview, quoting Clarke calling Jagr the best talent in the Draft).
If Farwell had been willing to trade Brind'Amour (whom he made off-limits) in the Lindros trade package-- Quebec only backed off Brind'Amour and Butsayev near the end and Ricci and Forsberg were put in -- the Flyers could have had Lindros AND Forsberg but would have had to wait 2 years for Foppa rather than having Lindros and Brind'Amour immediately.

Would have been worth the wait.
Assuming Clarke still makes the Recchi trade, your forward group by early 94-95 starts with:
Leclair-Lindros-Renberg
Dineen or Fedyk-Forsberg-Jagr
Works for me. |

Certainly would have paid to see that! |

The rangers offered 20 million in cash...5 more than the flyers.
Among all nhl owner scumbags...past and present...marcel aubut is near the head of the list...with terry and kim pegula gaining ground quite quickly.
Lindros was right all along about aubut...the same POS that sold the nordiques away from quebec city without so much as a merci beaucoup for all of the city’s rabid support.
Of course...the avalanche went on to win the cup in their very first year.
Marcel aubut deserves to rot in hell. |

That haul for Lindros is stunning. All of that for ONE GUY. Still amazes me. Forsberg for Lindros alone would have been a good deal but people didn’t know back then how great Forsberg was going to be. I sometimes wonder what would have happened if 88 had gone to the Rangers. |

If NP is healthy enough to go full practice as camp goes on does he play?
I know a lot of people think that he should not play until 20-21 season start (if ready) but if he is training camp ready the question after his health becomes can he out perform others on the roster?
I know the kid is more talented than a good chunk of our starters. Man...he would be a game changer for the Flyers. Adding him to a good team would give them some sick depth. Just saying. Why not dream? |

Bill, nice write up on the goalie rotation and how the Flyers May approach it for the playoffs on the main Flyers’ site.
Hart is going to be real special. His quick rise is already turning heads.
The other day in the comments of one of your blogs his name came up several times as the most important player in the team right now. Crazy respect for just such a young goalie. The fans just seem to rally around the kid. |

If they'd had Jagr, no way Renberg gets onto the top line. |

My thoughts exactly. Can you imagine Jagr on the line firing away with Lindros crowding the crease as a screen and on clean up duty? I dunno if the younger guys (god, I sound old) know how insanely dominant he was set up down low.
The man was a monster, and we were robbed of what would have been an incredible career. He was HOF worthy anyway, but had he not had his injuries and struggles with management, we talking a truly transcendent talent of his era.
And on top of it all, there was LeClair. Look, he was a fantastic Flyer, but it was clear his production skyrocketed with a healthy Lindros on his line. |

Really? In his early years in Pittsburgh he wasn’t on the top line.
Stevens-Lemieux-Tocchet
Errey-Francis-Jagr
I think Terry Murray, while no Scotty Bowman, would have seen the near perfect chemistry of the LOD and happily built a 2nd line around Foppa and Jagr. |

Who knows what would have happened guys. If we already have Lindros, Forsberg and Jagr, we probably don’t make the Recchi for Desjardins/LeClair deal. |

Yup and with Renberg and Jagr on the right side, Recchi would have been the logical choice to trade. |

Yeah Bill we just started playing again in North Richland Hills near Ft Worth. We suspect they’ll shut it back down soon with this surge in DFW. I think it’d be smart if the NHL kept all the playoff games in Canada. |
