We ever going to see actual change?
Or is this destined to be an incestous country club forever.
People with a brain would like to know.

The NHL as a whole is an "incestuous country club". Always has been. Probably will be for many years to come.
Non-Flyers example: "Super genius" GM Steve Yzerman fills his staff with old teammates, decades-long friends and/or relatives (his brother Chris). Currently there are 11 people within Hockey Ops for Detroit with a direct personal connection to Yzerman. |

AV was fired for Torts
Numerous players have been shipped out (Hayes, DeAngelo, etc)
We drafted Michkov, York, etc and traded for Drysdale
Briere is GM now
That's just to start what more do you want? |

If "fans" don't see a change in the way this current leadership group operates then I would argue they simply are not paying attention. So my advice would be to actually pay attention and maybe even see a game or two in person this year and then get back to us. The alt is to continue to just internet gm yourself into your agenda driven spiralizer. |

I don't think he was talking about a change in personnel. I think he was talking about a change in how they approach building a team. A change in what they value in players. A change in how the develop players. A change in how they approach a rebuild. These kind of things.
When you see the GM giddy about the idea of Deslauriers being Michkov's best buddy it doesn't make you feel like the team is in touch with how the game is played now. It feels like the era of orange they're aiming for is the one that happened in 1975. |

Why don't you explain it to those that don't see a change and what they're missing. Your post is completely empty of substance. You aren't saying anything. I would surmise that if you could actually say something, you would. You also are unaware that you also clearly have an agenda.

A team that is a also giddy about clearing up loads of cap space so they can spend their way to relevance. I don't see any difference from the past either. They value "Flyers Culture" over anything else as if that has brought them any success over the past 50 years (ZERO CUPS), and has in fact been a miserable failure since the cap era began.
They don't know how to build a cup winner. I know this because they haven't gotten close in 14 years. And really aren't close now.
I've heard enough about Flyers culture. As if other teams don't have a culture. I would rather have skill and talent with culture.
So spare me your "internet GM" nonsense. You are exactly the stooge that has sustained this franchise for 50 years and allowed this idea of culture to fester into a rotten boil of futility. |

Yzerman hasn't made the playoffs in five years as Detroit's GM. The Flyers are already up to four years with no playoffs. |

What do you know, when you don’t walk into a place filled with elite talent it’s hard to win. Yzerplan, that aged well. |

Geez, little sharp for you, but I didn't back read. I prefer to have a real re-build but there are some subtle things that can be helpful. They do have a good amount of youth, and that youth, if most takes another step forward will be talented. As we know the top D and top C and now the G1 are the real issues. I think in the most recent past, we had the G and Jake but could never get the strong supporting cast via draft. I do think this group has a chance to be strong support cast and if all works out could have some stars. MM, Tip if he can be a 35 plus guy, they need surprises for sure, they need 3-4 players to pass their ceilings, man as I write this, the needle in the haystack comes to mind but i still say from line 2 down, they have a good group with potential, with the 2 pair down they have potential. Luck is not a plan, but that is what they need, yea should have tanked it, for once they had some good, young players, that fooled them into the best plan is to keep the youth and buy the rest.

Were Hagg, Sanheim, TK, and Farabee not the same exact thing 5 years ago. A group of ok players as the supporting cast . You can’t not have the most important pieces and think it’s going to turn out fine. |

There was definitely never an Yzerplan. Especially if your prospects aren’t seeing NHL ice and you’re shelling out cash to UFAs each summer.
Yzerman does deserve some credit for Tampa’s success but he inherited Stamkos and Hedman. I don’t believe he drafted them, if I’m not mistaken. If those two are already under franchise control, who doesn’t want that job? |

Right over your head. I was mocking him. He stepped into a great spot in Tampa. He didn’t have the luxury of the elite talent in Detroit, which I alluded to. He’s been stuck in neutral. Stay in your lane . |

Hagg? I do think they have more on the NHL and coming this time around. TK yea, Sanheim sure but you have York, Drysdale plus Bonk and others, just seems more NHL or most likely NHL D players. I would consider Farabee part of this group as much as the last, then you have Tip, MM, potential with Foerster, Brink, even with Frost. Then the others not in the NHL. While losing Hart hurt, they have potential in goal, not just one but multiple chances to hit on one. Just feels like it is deeper in current NHL, deeper in prospects and upside. Again, that does not address the lack of a plan for a 1 C/D.

You’re just listing a lot of nothing. Brink and frost lol. Foerester could potentially be a strong player but most of those guys are filler. |

We are talking grand slam bottom of the ninth luck for this team to be a contender. Michkov is the next Kucherov, forester is a mark stone type of guy, one of those D becomes elite, a goalie pans out, and a free agent center signs here that doesn’t cripple the cap or other assets. |
