How much truth do you think there is that Larkin's AAV is used as a cap for what Yzerman will give out? I think the practice is utterly idiotic and frankly wrong in this case for Seider as I view him as more valuable than Larkin in the first place. Just curious on your thoughts.

Keep in mind, like most people I can only give you my best guess. It may be the case, or it may be that until the cap growth that’s been projected for years has been realized that a number in the 8s for your top players is a structure that ownership/management is comfortable with. I don’t think Larkin gets near the credit he deserves, but agree that Seider is probably the most important piece in the rebuild. In reality, Detroit only has about 8.75 to pay. In return to talking about the captain, he is in function and in practical position. If the cap hits that triple digit plateau, I fully expect higher deals if players have stats that command them.
What Detroit found in Larkin, Seider and Raymond is unique. Bob Kaser has said that at 18 Seider was the most impressive prospect he’d ever seen. Larkin grabbed a spot at 19 in the era where that was pretty much unheard of. Raymond followed suit but in a much friendlier environment to the idea. Seider is special. I wish I’d saved all the screenshots when he was drafted. Former sports radio workers asking if we could get Holland back. Fans were frothing at that pick. Yzerman had been sent home from TB when he didn’t sign an extension and got to know a lot about the player. Holland is rumored to have been hoping to get him. Years later Seider is still the most important pick of this era. You still have to build a team. These next 2 seasons are critical as the numbers went up for these negotiations for all teams. Mo should have an ‘a’, Raymond may be wearing one at times as well. I know that’s a lot, but there are far too many donkeys braying barnyard garbage that they pretend to know as fact. Anyone who isn’t in the room is an outsider. This is my best guess.
