tks chief, agreed with pretty much everything.
I would add a word on Dobes. don't count him out too soon when thinking about the future in net. yes Fowler, but he may not be the only one. it's a fight out there, nice to see for a change.

I agree, I wanted to mention him but didn't want to delay the blog any further.

I think his progression in the past year is significant, very good technique, size and speed.... I think his odds of eventually playing in the NHL are pretty high, now if it will be in Montreal or elsewhere, that remains to be seen.

good blog Hugo

Dobes is only 23, not sure where he was considered on the habs' depth chart but if he continues to progress and gives the kind of performance he had last night on a consistent basis, then he could become a top prospect as much as Fowler, who knows. goalies can be a weird animal lol.

Well it takes longer for goaltenders to really be in their prime so yes, 23 is relatively young and he still has plenty of time to improve.

Montembeault didn't look like a potential starter until he turned 26.

I think the main difference with Fowler is when you compare both goalies at the same age. Dobes was a mix of size and raw talent so the potential was there but his performances we're.... uneven.

Fowler already looks more complete and shows more stability in his performances at the same age and he has that combativity that I really enjoy in goalies.

I'd still consider Fowler having the most potential of the two but that doesn't take anything away from Dobes.

Jacob Fowler, 3rd round pick in 2023, played for Boston college last season.

Habs hope in the pipeline to be their next starting goaltender.

yeah agreed about Fowler, the fact that he's only 19 and already this good is pretty insane, the sky is the limit for that kid.

Fair assesment of all the players mentionned. I hope we will have your take on other camp notables like Beck, Heineman, Barré-Boulet ect.

I think Barron and Dvorak will make it hard to justify keeping Mailloux or Kapanen in Montreal to start the season, unless something drastic changes (trades, or forbid, injuries) before the start of the season.

He's an under the radar guy but he has the size and athletism to become a NHL goalie.

There was a Kevin Poulin playing in Laval the past few seasons but he was never truly considered a prospect, more a borderline AHL guy.

sounds like a fair assessment. anyway his technique was pretty on point last night, the tough part is though is to be able to do it on a consistent basis at the NHL level.
