DeMelo had a career year at 30. He's been a 4/5 dman most of his career. Pesce and Montour are much more established top 4 dmen. And should expect to be compensated accordingly relative to DeMelo.

Absolutely. I'd say Winnipeg got a deal on this one. Demelo has consistently proven that all he does is make every single player he plays with play better. Great deal, appropriate term. Zero doubt Winnipeg will be a playoff threat next year.

Its an okay contract but if DeMelo is on your top D pair you're really not a contender.

No this contract doesn't set the price for dmen, a guy like Montour will surely get more then $4.9M.
