Which direction though? Do you try and patch things and hope to make the playoffs, or do you just give up on this year and make moves to hopefully be competitive next year?

This year is done. They’re not making the playoffs. Metro is terrible this year. I would fire the coaching staff … all of them, not like the last time. Start with that.

I think this roster is decent, actually. I think Sully is Dan Bylsma 2.0. Clean house behind the bench. Ride out the year with new strategy/plays. Maybe fix the PP. Then see what roster moves should be made under the new HC.

He is still trying to be the hero and thinks he can outplay and outskate everyone. Not so fast EK… literally! The Pens age is catching up with them.

Flyers lost, Caps lost in OT, Devils are losing, Isles are losing. Lots of stagnation in the Metro. Might be the weakest division this year?

Heard last night after the game there are players vocally frustrated with coaching not changing the PP players and sticking with a change so they are able to practice on PP1 together and get something going.
Mid January sometime, 1 of the veterans questioned Malkins effort and performance after a game and said “there is no f**cking chance we score on the PP when only 4 guys are actually giving some effort.”
Just guessing but with players being vocal now I would be quite surprised if changes aren’t made in the next 72 ish hours.

I hope so. I don’t know any business where failure (or lack of success year after year) doesn’t get punished. It’s mind-boggling. Those b2b cups are a distant past now.

It’s sad when all we can hope for is a tying goal 6-5 in the waning minutes of the 3rd period. Which of course will be followed by an OT or SO loss. Rinse, repeat
