GMs are so "smart", give an aging goalie 8 years deal at 8 million and trade a capable young goalie who would be on ELC for 3 years.
Brilliant! |

Flyers aren’t acquiring Askarov.
Flyers aren’t acquiring McGroarty.
Flyers aren’t acquiring Marner.
Flyers aren’t acquiring Stamkos.
Flyers aren’t acquiring Draisatl.
Figure I’d get that out there now before those (e3’s) get out out there too.

For some reason this seems to be the case. Ek isn't the first or only to report his availability. |

So far the comments on this particular Flyers buzz haven't spiraled into hell like on Bill's last two blogs. It became difficult to read. |

Askarov and Tkachuk, Stamkos...you name him, the reason is simply to create juice and buzz, so the Flyers get fans to buy season tickets. It's all hype, until it isn't. They still don't have a ton of caproom, at the moment. |

Time for another ranking of cap space. Last year at the deadline the Flyers had $38M of space. |

In truth, Saros is a proven starter and Askarov isn't. But I do agree, GMs make short sighted decisions. Though often times, that is because they won't likely have their job in a few years regardless so best to do as well as possible in the short term. |
