Thanks Sean. Keep up the good work, it’s not easy to find content to write about this time of the year.
Only the dipsh!t questioned Draisaitl’s contract. He continues to prove what a jacka$$ he really is. Not fair to come on a free hockey talk website and call out the bloggers. Although some think it’s their right and feel they are entitled to do so.
I’ve always enjoyed your writing, not always agreeing but hey I’m a Flames fan, what would you expect.
Oilers Young stars team seems to lack any star power, I guess that’s probably due to not having many picks the last few years. I’ll be heading down to Penticton Friday afternoon to take in the Flames game, then again on Saturday for the boa. Hockey is finally back, exciting times again.

keep telling yourself that one player making almost 1/6 of a cap hit on a 24 person team is a "good deal". This isn't about if he is a good player or not, he is clearly a top 5 player in the league, but I personally would rather see our team win a championship than have two of the top five players in the league. Clearly he has no desire to win, he just wants to more money than anyone could ever spend in 5 lifetimes. The guy is handcuffing our team and this will be our last year to win a cup, after which we will never have cap room to sign players around Drai or McDavid. And yes it is my right to come here and tell you what an idiot you are for thinking otherwise. Your 10 readers may think you are above criticism because this is a free site, but if you are going to say stupid poop I am going to call you out on it. Sorry not sorry.

i don't see the problem of drai's contract. wasn't Sid and Geno worth 15% each when they signed their extensions?

Thanks Sean, always appreciate the effort.

If Drai can keep performing at this level it's decent value. Year 1 is an overpayment but 4or5 years from now $14m won't seem so crazy. He's got to perform though. Big guys slow down and I am always worried about Leon's compete level. We'll see...

I also saw that Larsson signed for $5.25 per...I still hate that we lost that player. Imagine TWO Larssons instead of Nurse!!! (math not exact but u get the idea).

People's ideas of high caphit contracts is squewed because of covid.
Covid caused a cap freeze, which handcuffed many teams, especially the Oilers and Leafs.
Now, under normal circumstances, the raising cap will create the cap space needed to build a team around high paid stars.
As was mentioned, Crosby and Malkin's contract would have been crippling if the cap had frozen at that time.

valid point, and I might also add (and I do not know this at all, just a hunch/guess) that the salary cap is likely growing faster than the smaller/minimum contracts. i.e. a team can probably afford to keep raising the financial bar to keep their stars without jeopardizing the bottom 6or10 players making bottom money (say bottom 30%).

I agree with ol Alfred. Trade McDavid to free us of what'll be a ridiculous cap hit, for some guys making 750k. Then we'll have more money to build around our real leaders like Nurse and Podkolzin

Anyone that would make fun of the Gaudreau boys tragedy, has to be a complete imbecile.
I’m not so sure I’d be siding with anything the jackas$ says, even in a joking matter.

So they're bringing in Travis Dermott who stop me if you've heard this one, grew up in Newmarket, played for Erie with the 2 Connors and under Knoblach.

Needless to say it's still better than a PTO for Kevin Shat-the-bed
