Bill,
Is Kosolov planning on honoring his contract and just not attending rookie camp, or is his absence a clear sign he is not coming back?

Bill,
What are the odds that Kosolov ever plays for the Flyers?

Bill, assume the challenges the Flyers are having with prospects and not wanting to play are unusually high for an NHL team?

It's only 2 prospects dude. Cuter most likely a solid player and kolosov who the book is still out on.

Technically it was 3. Fedotov signed with the KHL after his military service rather than honor his Flyers contract. It took the Flyers basically suing the KHL, throwing a boatload of money at Fed and a guaranteed NHL job to get him to change his mind.

The only Russian they've gotten out of Russia without drama is Michkov and he got the New Era of Orange gold package complete with POHO and GM being his valets, translator, family/friends flown over, guaranteed spot on opening day lineup, etc. I wouldn't be surprised if they were flying in caviar daily.

Also, while not a prospect, RyJo is another player headache for the Flyers.

Optics look bad for the Flyers having two high profile draft picks refuse to play for them. However, other than the Flyers seemingly not having great two-way communication with those two, the similarities end there. Fedotov is an entirely different situation given the political issues in Russia, as he obviously did want to come play for the Flyers.

How is a guy like Andrae considered a rookie? There are a bunch of other guys that have been around for awhile and spent time in the NHL already, so how are they rookies? I guess they have to play a certain number of games at the NHL level? There, perhaps I answered my own question. I dunno...

Fedotov is not a prospect. Hes 27 years old. His situation is also completely different as there are so many sketchy details nor a straight answer of how all of a sudden he was coming over and his team was terminating him. To this day Briere doesnt talk about what was done to squeak those wheels

If you don't think at the time he signed that deal in Russia there was a proverbial, if not literal gun held to his head, I don't know what to tell you.

As for the Flyers throwing a boatload of money at him, I would think even they would get that they could have probably signed a NA FA goalie for less than what they paid him. Why even bother if that was the case?

Fedetov was certainly a prospect at one time when the Flyers drafted him in 2015. There is more to the history of the player than just this year.

Technically 2, Russian military drafted Fedetov and stationed him at a military camp. You think he had a choice on where to play after tha

DB made it pretty clear ryjo was not going to play for the flyers. Ryjo had no choice.

Kolosov is only a high profile prospect to flyers fans not to the rest of the league

The KHL at first refused to register Fedotov's contract so it sounds like not everyone was on the same page who was holding the gun? If this is the case, why did they terminate his contract less than a year later? It's not like Fedotov has suggested anything other than money kept him from coming over after completing his service.

I think much of what went on that led to his military service was shady but I haven't heard anyone suggest his post military CSKA contract was anything other than him wanting to get back to playing hockey in Russia.

As far as the money, everyone's eyebrows were raised at the contract he got and there were plenty of rumors that the only reason he came over at all was because the Flyers were willing to overpay for him.

Who were the Flyers going to sign with 2-3 weeks left in the season? A season which the GM described as his goal not to rebuild but to make the playoffs and the team fading badly down the stretch? It is quite crazy how little we know and how quickly that all went down. Feds had them over a barrel and if they brought him over they couldn't afford to lose him after only playing a handful of games, it would be a PR disaster.

Hell if Fedotov was worth all that to Russia, why did they allow Michkov to come over so easily?

Why does the KHL always terminate player contracts so they can come to the NHL? They get paid to! Personally, I think Fedotov after having what was probably a really bad year, just wanted to play hockey, anywhere. He may of thought there was no chance at some point of getting out of Russia so he took what was in front of him, just so he could play.

Very plausible and we will probably never know the whole truth. In the end, everyone got paid and I would love to know what the Flyers paid to get that contract terminated.

I can't imagine that Michkov's mom isn't getting a no-show job or there isn't someway to funnel money back to Michkov to compensate him for what he paid to terminate his contract. Maybe a sponsorship deal where he doesn't have to do anything.

I think it needs to be reinforced here, I think it was you that mentioned that they could get a vet back up cheaper. Whatever they might have had to pay to get him released from the KHL plus a 3.25M salary with 2.5M paid up front in a signing bonus. If he turns out to be a strong player, great but if not. Seems to be a lot to pay for a backup.

One other thing, they had no problem bringing Fedotov over and burning his ELC and paying him a signing bonus. Same with Kolosov but not for Gauthier?

There has been a Risto sighting.

https://www.cbssports.com...en-skating-prior-to-camp/

For all those worried that he wouldn't be available to man his 3rd pairing spot to start the season, worry no more. That's one less spot to worry about a young player getting an opportunity.

To be honest I am looking forward to rookie camp more than the regular camp. This is the future of this franchise right now. Some of these players have got to hit and hit big!
