If you read his quotes recently he said he’s not sure how long he wants to play and is trying to gauge it one year at a time so I think in this instance it makes sense for the 2 year deal. If he’s feeling good still I can see if re-upping again.

It's not really that sort when he's already 37 years old, already sign for next season as it was and will be 40 when his term with Pens is up now. 3 more seasons of Sid. Excellent news.

If you read his quotes recently he said he’s not sure how long he wants to play and is trying to gauge it one year at a time so I think in this instance it makes sense for the 2 year deal. If he’s feeling good still I can see if re-upping again.

It lines up with Malkin and Letang. Basically can make a decision of what he wants to do in a post-Malkin world (definitely retiring) and seeing what Letang does.
