Seems like right now Fester plans on having Chiarot with Seider and Edvinsson with Petry for the top 4. I don't like those pairings at all but then again i don't like most of that defense aside from Seider and Edvinsson.

Looking forward to seeing Danielson play in GR this year. Will be interesting to see if he can develop into a top tier / elite player that we all hope he can. If we could get him and Kasper to actually exceed expectations that would really add the needed depth up the middle this team is starved for.

Still think Husso will be awful again. Probably the third man out in the goalie rotation I'm guessing. Can't stop a breakaway to save his life... too many soft goals. The biggest problem for this team that Yzerman did not address is the terrible team defense. Going to be tough to replace the loss of goal scoring too. Hope the top prospects / kids can really break through this season.

When Bultman had Husso first on waivers, I was a bit surprised (even if a forward made it off PTO or a prospect). Talbot looked rough in camp. Hoping to see something better tonight. Gibson had an appendectomy out in Cali. Wondering if they would make a call for Lyon but we need to stable something to him and that leaves two possibly bad spots.

Kasper looks hungry so far. He could really go in GR. I forgot that Danielson had 4 points in 5 preseason games last year. Will be interesting to watch and see if he makes an impact. Would be a boost to have a strong top line in GR for sure.

That’s not a stand alone sentiment, for what it’s worth. A left or right side pickup would be a nice get to stabilize. Eddy is going into the fire and someone’s going to want to test him. Opinion, of course.

If they could get someone for the right side behind Seider to play with Edvinsson and play Maatta with Seider, i think they could be ok for now with the top 4. They just need to get rid of Chiarot and Petry playing top 4 minutes imo.

I would like to add that Johansson on defense in GR looked very good this last season. He's out of waiver options so Yzerman had to bring him up. I think he may surprise some people. He's more of a steady stay-at-home defender and doesn't get caught out of position much. We'll see what he can do in the bottom pairing in Detroit. I'm just hoping they give him the opportunity to actually grow and move up to the 2nd pairing if he proves himself.

That’s a relief. Will correct. Just went off of Khan’s shot of morning skate. Correction, either I read it wrong or it was updated. You’re absolutely right on Lyon. Wondering if Talbot gets the 3rd. No good feels for swapping from Lyon to Talbot at this point but gladly be wrong. Camp is camp, may not have been engaged.

I have to agree. There are going to be “rookie” moments and you need wheels and support. A bad pinch, a cycle gone wrong etc. Eddy has good speed at his size, but if he’s playing down low in the O zone a 2 on 1 vs. Petry may not be great.

I want to see the same. A couple writers have the 7D assumption for several games. That will help, don’t want to see the kid get the Jurco treatment.

Chiarot could be a good partner if he stopped trying to play like an offensive defenseman and just played a stay at home role for his partners. He doesn't seem to want to do that and it seems like the coach refuses to make him play that way. So he will continue to be an issue no matter who he plays with.

Bits of stuff like that come out in interviews from the young guys. Mo will talk about what he needs to improve on and it feels like it just sucks the creativity out of the players. I get wanting stronger D, but it stinks to see players locked out of what they can do sometimes.
