It was implied Konecny for Lundell before the NTC kicks in
- xShoot4WarAmpsx

not sure florida would be one of the teams that would want tk on a long-term deal.

I think TK is overpaid.

The Flyers could've traded Konecny last year at the deadline or this year when he was in the final year of his deal and that team could've offered him 8 years.
- MJL

True, but the Flyers weren't obligated to do that nor necessarily to a team that wanted TK for 8 years. They could've traded him as a rental. There was risk for TK in a trade that didn't include a new contract. What if he was traded and had a bad year? What if he tore an ACL? What if he didn't have a new contract and has a bad year this year?

The Flyers were the only certainty.

Unless it is in a package to get a top pick in the draft. Trading Bonk for a player now would be completely foolish.
- MJL

you saying that is foolish cliff. you can entertain offers to see what you get. doesn't have to be a a top pick. nhl ready center would work. need to give to get

they are getting nothing for RR. he is a sunk cost. he has no trade value. ride it out for now.

he is fine as a 3rd pair dman is all.

when was the last tie the flyers traded a top end prospect exclude cutter)? when was the last time they traded a prospect for prospect trade?

- hello it's me 2050

We dont need to get anything back for RR. Like mentioned he is fine but it opens up Cap and a roster spot for someone to make the team. That in itself is worth moving him. Would have been better if Fletcher just accepted his mistake and moved Risto at the deadline instead of signing him

Don't kid yourself, with a rising salary cap 8.5 million, or whatever he makes, will be the new 5.5 million in three years time. TK is a 30 goal 60 point motor never quits guy, there's absolutely several teams out there that would've paid him. Bo Horvat is a center but his production is simialr and he's a wussy compared to TK, the Islanders gave him 8.5 million.
- Dave21Brown

Not kidding myself at all, just looking at things from a perspective far different than yours.

Despite a season where the Flyers obviously overachieved, re-signing Konecny made zero sense as I don't feel this team will be competitive for at least another 5 years... the pieces just aren't there, especially on the defensive side.

Let's not forget, the magical rising salary cap hasn't exactly been a good thing for a franchise that has consistently shown less self control than a 10 year old with a $20 bill in a candy shop.

The 8 year deal would not have been a deal breaker. He would gladly sign 7 years with a contender. He wants to be here, for whatever reason.

if they were traded the new team can give 8 years no?
- hello it's me 2050

Yes, but that team would also have to meet whatever asking price the Flyers set and be a team of Konecny's choosing as he can simply say he won't sign with that team.

you need to accept that RR has zero value. none. nada. zip. he is fine on the 3rd pair. guys like that are always available and don't carry the contract he does.

unless an equally bad contract he is here for the duration unless a buyout. Or unless they want to attach picks/prospects.

the sad thing is they have no one to take his roster spot. all their D prospects suck or are not close.

It always depends on what you get back and what Bonk will be. If Bonk ends up being a top pair D chances are we are going to lose that trade. Also not great if we move Bonk for a middle age C.

I dont really see the benefit of adding a C unless they are a defacto #1C or have the ceiling of a #1C.

not really. flyers overpaid. figures can change per team.

he would have got paid handsomely either way had he entered free agency or signed with the team that traded for him

The team with the deal on the table is the current certainty but there were a number if scenarios where Konecny could get 8 years with another team.

clearly, I am not talking about an aging or middle age center.

flyers centers suck. never seen a worse group that I can remember.

do not see bonk coming anything close to #1 dman. not saying trade him but to say not explore it means the GM isn't doing his job. That is foolish.

They absolutely have guys. Andrae is ready. He is still Waiver eligible so they are taking advantage of that.

Ginning and Attard had poor camps but they still arent complete products. Both could get called up and play solid like they did last season. Attard is probably a stretch at this point but development is not linear. prospects do struggle and dont look good at times. I just wouldnt expect a high celing for those 2. Andrae I believe is 100% ready and should be in the lineup.

The Flyers should send Jett back. Call up Andrae and bench Zamula right now based on play.

Andrae plays the left side. RR is on the right. Trading or keeping RR has no bearing on Andrae.

Ginning and Attard are clearly not in their plans. I have said this for a long time now.

I dunno. Having Konecny, Tkachuck, Reinhart and Verhaeghe as your top 6 Wings looks very nice. Technically FLA could let Bennet go too and use Reinhart as a C.

the flyers way has failed and has no track record for success. Do you agree or disagree?
- hello it's me 2050

Well, that's a pretty loaded and broad question, which has a lot of moving parts to it because you're talking about a lot of different people across many different years. I assume you're talking about the cap era? Hilferty and Briere just took over the club 18 months ago from Dave Scott and the "old guard" of Clarke and Holmgren, and whatever stooges they put in place to follow their commands. The Flyers have been tremendously successful with different methods, since expansion they're the third or fourth winningest franchise in the league, in terms of wins.

In the early 90's they were in the wheeling and dealing mode and that continued even after the 2005 lockout, which is where the problems lay, or is it lie? It's not impossible to be competitive through trading, but it's a much harder path to follow in a cap era. Drafting is time-proven method to building a core in the cap era, something they refuse to do, until recently. At least I believe that's the path they're now going to take. We'll see if I'm right or wrong in the next couple years.

Fair, I'm not sure if they'll get out of their own way or not. I'm just extremely hopeful they will. With how they set up the past few drafts and the 2025 draft, again, I'm hopeful.

Attard will turn 26 this season and he still can't figure out how to play his position properly.

Ginning is turning 25 this season and still makes too many mistakes to even secure a job as a SAH #7.

And I don't think I'm really going out on a limb if I say that Andrae is never going to be an NHL regular. Not enough size, not enough skill... he has no niche. Flyers blueline is ass and Seeler was banged up and Torts still didn't want him in the lineup.

Seeing your post a few pages back, you have a few years on me, so I'm glad at least one of us is still hopeful. I've been completely apathetic toward this team for years. It's one way of not constantly being disappointed by them.

Instead of going out on a limb how about actually putting him out on a limb and in the lineup and see what happens.

You're not wrong, if success is measured by winning the Stanley Cup, there's a lot of team who've been unsuccessful over the past many years. The Flyers are definitely one of them. Since going to the finals in 2010 they've pretty much been tripping over themselves left right and center.

New GM, new governor, new direction, it won't always be perfect, it never is. There will be missteps along the way, but I'm hoping they turn the corner and try to build through the draft once again like they used to do.

It's just entertainment at the end of the day. I'm not a fair weather fan, I'm not insinuating anyone here is, I just enjoy the process when the team isn't winning, youth and development, if they'll commit to drafting. I've been watching a long time, I'm still here.
