Coots turned it around during that second Capitals get. Prior to that, not so much.

Not so much what?

“Shoving it down” Torts’ throat is an odd term to me. Torts put Coots on the top line so this can happen.

I thought Sanheim and Risto made a good pairing today, against a really good and heavy team.

Well, that wasn’t pretty from a coaches perspective, but for the fans, love to see the offence breakout. Tortorella is an idiot, I can’t wait until he’s gone.

Couturier's all around game has been solid all season. He has been controlling play and playing strong away from the puck when he has been out there. The issue is when you are signed to that contract, the expectation is to put up points. He did that today. Hopefully it continues. For those that have ignorantly posted that he can't keep up the pace of the play anymore. The evidence says otherwise. His game has never been built on speed. It's been built on his extremely high hockey IQ, his underrated hands and his physical strength on the puck and around the net. He exhibited that today.

I like him fine today. I would give him 3rd star of the game. Still just a 3rd pair defenseman in this league.

Need more from a top pairing if you're going to be a good team.

You don’t get placed on the wing for a game if you’re playing well at center. You don’t get moved up and down the line up if you’re playing well. Hes a 7 plus million dollar player who had one assist entering this game. He had a great afternoon but it’s not at all ignorant to question if Coots still has “it”. Sean Couturier scoring today is the first time he’s ever scored with that “C” on his chest.

As you always say, small sample size.

Oh for sure, they wouldn't be a top pairing on a true contender, but a really good solid second pairing.

Well said, I would also confidence can really help or hurt you. Sometimes a player has it and other times a player can lose it.

How long did that last though? He was moved up in that game. Seems convienent that Torts starts the 4th line with Coots on it in a position he never played before for his 800th game.

The only caveat I would present to this is the Wild are a slow and heavy team, and this was a good match for Coots. But against faster teams like Edmonton or Vancouver, Couts had a hard time keeping up. Still he needs to play center and he needs to have good wingers, and he showed today he can still produce. Michkov especially will develop very nicely if he continues to play with Couts and TK.

Thanks. I couldn’t remember one last year. 5 pts from coots. Crazy.

Maybe it is just taking him longer to get fully up to speed after the surgeries. Who knows? I just hope he’s able to contribute well moving forward here

With John Tortorella, anyone can play anywhere. He has been using a ridiculous amount of line combinations. That's not an indication of anything but the team as a whole has been playing poorly overall.

Coots has been in Torts good books for last few games. Wouldnt be with Michkov and Konecny otherwise.
- xShoot4WarAmpsx

Yeah, after the wienerhead demoted him to the 4th Line Wing in his 800th game.

LOL, The wild are not a slow team. Desperately trying to cling to your narrative. He does not have an issue keeping up with the pace of play.

Couts has been gradually playing faster as the season progresses. I think it would be wise to keep Michkov with Couts a lot because both have the strength of how they think the game. Also, Couts can cover up some of Michkov's defensive weaknesses at this point.

Random question did anyone else put money 💰 down on michkov to have more then 45 points

There’s nothing convenient about this team and to act like he’s been placed on the forth line every night in the first 8 games is nonsense. Couturier has had opportunities and it wasn’t until this afternoon things finally worked out.

The sky is always falling when something isn’t working out for Coots. He gets scratched last season as captain and played wing on the fourth line in his 800th game. The guy wipes his tears with 100 dollar bills at night.

Play better and you get rewarded. This goes for the entire team.

So let me get this right and stay with me.

Sean Couturier sees opportunity on the top line at center, has a big game and suddenly, according to you he’s back!

Rostolainen sees opportunity on the top pair, has a big game, it wasn’t good enough? Need more.
