Every time I listen to a press conference by this team, whether it's Tortorella, Briere, Jones or Hilferty. They make me laugh. Briere is saying sending Luchanko down is best for his development. He gets to be the guy and play big minutes in all situations. That wasn't the case before the season started but it is now? - MJL
Yea, pretty hollow. No hockey knowledgeable guy gave a thumb up to bring Jett in for just 9 games (4). An awkward stunt pulled from an archaic figure. |

Unless he’s an idiot, Briere can’t be happy with the Luchanko situation.
Does our GM actually have any power in this organization or does God Emperor Torts call all the shots? - BiggE
thought he was sent down |

It was a clear cut mistake. He played in the pre season and got a taste of the NHL. - MJL
Preseason is not a tase of the NHL. You are playing AHL and lower players trying to make the team and NHLers who are putting in the bare minimub effort.

Sure it is, there are plenty of NHL players that play in the pre season as well as NHL linemates. Plenty of opportunities in a pre season game to give a player a taste of it.

My guess is if the Flyers are still top 3 heading into January, Torts relinquishes being HC and it is spun as the next step of the rebuilding. An assistant gets a shot, Torts has gotten the footers in place and now will sit next to Briere to help build the roster to now compete. |

Which is why keeping him up was even more ridiculous. If anything it showed he was not ready by the way he played against he competition you described. He "held his own" against AHL and lower players trying to make the team and NHLers who are putting in the bare minimum effort. And when the lineups got upgraded towards the end of preseason he disappeared completely.

Not really, put him against NHLers and see how he does. Flyers get a good sense of where he is. Luchenko showed he can handle the defensive end of the NHL but the offense wasnt there. Foerster was a guy who didnt look that good in camp and still made the team and he had a good rookie season

Excellent start. Great energy. Winning puck battles. Controlling the neutral zone. Great offensive layers on both goals. |

Foerster has a 20 goal season under his belt. Luchanko was overwhelmed the final few preseason games and during his 4 game stint. That is a fact. |
